I don't really like Earl but he definitely has the most appeal now in Odd Future. Tyler's Bimmer looks interesting but this WHOA song (and the sick video) makes me think that Earl will release a pretty album that looks nice and everybody will be proud of him because hes 15 or whatever. In terms of 16 year old rappers, I'm way more excited about Joey Badass' first album.

Well, he's 19 now. And I think we'll have to see the final product. Doris had a bit less of the over the top internal rhyming, but was still definitely Earl's flow and speed.

It's just part of growing up. There must be something about pure technical talent that makes 16 year olds like Earl, Busdriver, and Rush.

Guys...Gucci released another (5th of 2013?!) mixtape
http://www.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/20867/gucci-mane-peewee-longway-money-pounds-ammunition.html

But with great Gucci comes great responsibility

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/apd-issue-arrest-warrant-gucci-mane-after-alleged-/nW2kc/

quote:

ATLANTA — Atlanta police have issued an arrest warrant for a well-known rapper after a soldier said he was assaulted by him.

The soldier told Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri he was just looking to get a picture with Gucci Mane when the rapper attacked him.

Photos show cuts to the soldier's head after he said Radric Davis, whose stage name is Gucci Mane, hit him with a champagne bottle last Friday night.

The soldier, who asked only to be called by his first name, James, told Viteri he asked a security guard in the VIP section of Harlem Nights on Courtland Street in Atlanta, if he could get a photo with the rapper.

"I'm in the military. I wanted to get a picture with Gucci Mane, is it OK?" James said he asked the security guard. "I was speaking to the security guard, and Gucci Mane hit me in the head with a bottle."

James, who serves in the Army, returned home from Afghanistan in October. Last Friday was his first trip to Atlanta with friends to celebrate his birthday. He said he was stunned when Davis reacted violently to his request.

"And as I looked at him in the shock of why, one of his friends hit me in the side of my face," James told Viteri.

James said he went to Grady Memorial Hospital by ambulance where his injury required 10 stitches.

According to a promotional flyer, Gucci Mane was at the club promoting his new mix tape.

"We do have an active warrant for Mr. Davis for aggravated assault," Lt. Jeff Cantin of the Atlanta Police Department told Viteri. "So I'm sure after he sees this, I'm sure he'll want to reach out and contact us."

"That is dangerous because if there was to be any other fan trying to approach him, ain't no telling what else he might do to them," James said.

James said he has a concussion and is suffering from bad headaches.

"He could have possibly killed me. I just hope and pray that I recover pretty well because I still want to serve my military career," James said.

I like his stuff to be honest.

Most dudes in this thread don't want to admit it but Earl is legit better at rapping than 90% (or more) of the rappers that get talked about here. It's much cooler to play suburban gangsta and pretend you're "hard" listening to some generic-rear end no talent trap dude when you wanna get back at your parents for grounding you than it is to listen to something where the lyrics are actually intelligible. Also OF occasionally talks about rape of white women which everyone knows is bad #socialjustice, but shooting black people and contributing to the degradation of urban environments is totally cool (and will help keep property prices down when you're ready for some good ol' fashion gentrification)

Regardless, don't be ashamed of whatever you like. Pretty much this is what most of the dudes in this thread are like:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUIE2hOrnfE

and their opinions mean jack poo poo. Don't let some internet dudes dictate what you like. OTOH realize you might get clowned if it's something that's really ridiculous...

Earl is good. But he's a rainy cloud kind of guy (like a lot of other guys) and I don't really care for hearing someone's neurosis in lyrical form. I can dabble with his music.

As for this thread, I know a lot of mush mouth rap fans in real life who honestly like some 3-6 or Lil Wayne more than a rapper than composes coherent thoughts in a creative way. Most times, we don't cross paths but in it happens in this thread. I think if Biggie was alive, people would be arguing why Wayne or Juicy is superior to him or something.

Haha, oops.

Neglected to say, saw Nas at O2 arena in London, Tuesday past. Glad to see he'd sold out the entire arena. Iggy Azalea and 2Chainz as supporting acts, replacing Meek Mill - which was a shame because I'd heard good things about Meek and wanted to see what he's like.

I thought Nas would be one of those artists that may be well respected in his field but would not be a great performer but I thought his performance was great. Funny little dig at 2Chainz, when during an interlude in One Mic, he shouted "Shout out to 2Chainz, all I need is one".

I don't know what the gently caress is going on in Alan's post but what I will say is I think you dudes hype up Gucci and 3-6 WAY too much. Juicy and DJ Paul are not the greatest rap group of all time - not even in the south. Juicy actually sucks at rapping and every few years he makes a catchy hook with a sick beat. I can't believe I just read 5 pages of nothing but 3-6 lol.

I think 'greatest' is the most subjective. For me, that group is Outkast. But I have nothing but love for 36. I agree, the short list of the most seminal and inspirational southern rap acts should include 36 Mafia, UGK, and Outkast. I guess a case could be made to include Cash Money.
