Does ROD get alot of love in this thread? His latest mix posted on Soundcloud is fantastic. His releases are great too, especially his tracks on the Ken Ishii/Mark Romboy remix album.

Easy guys.

Could anyone recommend me some more tracks/artists/labels similar to these? I've only been listening to techno properly for about a year but I'm aware (I hope!) of most of the major players and I'm keen to get deeper into the genre so maybe some lesser known stuff would be awesome. Thanks!

Rant up ahead..

Some DJ from another city asked my friend and I to open for his trap (lol) set via facebook, telling us that he'll pay us each for our time. I've never heard of this guy before and I didn't have anything going on for the night so I took up his offer. Everyone in the crowd was having a blast enjoying themselves while said DJ was sulking the entire time. After our set the crowd pretty much died out and wasn't vibing to his music.

My friend and I were waiting for his "promoter" to come through and pay us the money - I had somewhere to be around two am and I couldn't bother waiting around. I asked him to text his friend so we can get paid. Dude turns into a tyrant because I wouldn't close his set for him (lol) and then he proceeds to push me. I look over to my friend confused as to what just happened, so instead of pushing him back I told security what happened, fortunately they witnessed the event. Security confronts this over conceited douchebag and he claims that I attempted to headbutt him.

They shut off the music and he touches me again, I push him into the wall because at this point I'm pretty loving furious. Security comes and he tries to run out of the club and catch a cab. One of the promoters ended up giving me $20 to cab home with my stuff, when I leave the club hes outside with his friends talking to management. Dude didn't utter a single word to me and tried to act like the victim.

He only got paid $100 for the night and its safe to say he'll never have another gig there again. Anyone ever experience something similar?

pretty nice groove you've got going there, could see this being played in an opening warehouse set but I'd get rid of the whimpering vocal.

This week I've listened to:

- Donato Dozzy - Babylon Market Mix
http://intersticessg.wordpress.com/2013/03/12/donato-dozzy-babylon-market-mix/

Of course Chris from mnml ssgs couldn't stay away from the bloglight forever - he still posts on RA every time there's an article about someone who recorded a mix for mnml ssgs. In any case, that's cool, because he's friends with Dozzy - and I'm always down for more Dozzy.

- Avian (Shifted & Ventress) - Electronic Explorations Mix #245
http://electronicexplorations.org/?show=avian

Shifted is easily a Try Hard, but that's why I love him. This isn't really a Shifted mix, but it's like a mixtape of all of Shifted's noise / experimental electronic friends. It's really good imo.

- Beats In Space #668 - Delroy Edwards & Ron Morelli
http://www.beatsinspace.net/playlists/668

L.I.E.S. in the building. There's only been one mix from Delroy before this, and this is just straight jams. Ron Ziti is always a party on BIS. Even if you're not a fan of the L.I.E.S. sound on its own - I can barely stand some of the records and only own four out of the like 30+ - Ron knows how to DJ with them and he makes it work. I can't really DJ like that, but Ron can.

Also, this week's RA mix from Jam City is great.

Didn't realize this thread existed. Also very cool to know that Nautiluss is a goon, except I'm dumb and missed him play at SXSW.

I've been fiddling around with Spotify with random tracks I've liked from this thread and have thrown together a collaborative playlist here:

Feel free to add! And to me, I think Disclosure would fit here since it's more UK bass oriented, but can't deny the house influence is very there.

Why not?

I mean they're kind of an obvious fit for the other thread with the coming from the scene w/ the garage allegiance and being on the UK charts. But other than that (and landing on the poppier side of things with the vocalists/production wise) it's not that different from Julio Bashmore or Joy O who definitely fit in here as well. Seems to me like they're just pushing the poppier side of the UK tech house sound that's big right now.

I mean for what it's worth I'm pretty sure I was hearing Latch on Mark Radford's and Dominique Danielle's rinse shows before it hit the charts.

Post whatever you want as far as I'm concerned and I'm not trying to rag on anyone's music choices, but Disclosure is pop music ala deadmau5/skrillex/et al, which is not really what this thread goes for. That it's garage influenced pop music instead of prog house influenced or dubstep influenced or whatever doesn't make much difference, it's on another planet than the more underground style sounds that are usually posted here.

Yeah and the "poppier side of the UK tech house sound" doesn't belong here either. Think of it this way, no big techno DJ is ever going to play that sort've tune in their set.

Don't get me wrong I like Disclosure and that sort've sound, but it definitely belongs in the UK thread.

I went to Techno Heaven last week at the CLR party during WMC. Dettmann b2b Radioslave then Carl Craig THEN Liebing THEN Tommy Four Seven? gently caress it was everything you could imagine and more.
After that I went to the Space terrace to catch Nic Fanciulli b2b Joris Voorn, my legs still hurt.

Other cool sets I caught were Dusky, Huxley (so much bass, an obscene amount), and Scuba b2b George Fitzgerald. I was also looking forward to seeing Adam Beyer b2b Cirez D but I was so tired that I decided to go back to my place and get some rest.

Anyone do anything fun this past weekend?

Just curious which releases you can barely stand on L.I.E.S. In tandem with that, I'm also curious what you'd recommend to a guy who is basically finding his way back into techno after 15 years or so out of the game, with L.I.E.S. as the label that really has guided me back in. I have some stuff on WT Records, Echovolt, and Creme. I'm not a purist at all-- in the 90s and now, I come at techno from the perspective of an industrial and art music guy. I'm also really into some of the darker, more abstract stuff from England at the moment like Demdike Stare and Raime (who I'm not sure really fit the boundaries of this thread).

Pan Pot are easily my favourite DJ's, there's never a tune they play that I don't like.

Here's everything from my "recently downloaded need to organise" folder:

German Brigante - What's the problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfDK4S89_70 Very deep techhouse with some hypnotic vocals

Dosem - Replicants (Edu Imbernon & Coyu Remix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCCZwbdKaCU Second drop is euphoric

Basti Grub & Komaton - Sick https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg8Ljid92nI Oldie but a goodie
