The R&D of it and everything was intended to be a 750cc version of the V-Max, but they couldn't get the vboost tech working well at that displacement and canned the project. They put this out instead with the same goals in mind. I lost the article but here's what I believe to be a direct quote on it. http://www.vmaxoutlaw.com/tech/vmaxstory/custom.html Mr. Araki posted:We gave up the project of 750cc engine variation on V-max. However another idea came up, to make a new American model with the engine of FZ 750. Soon this became the FZX 750. There was a limitation to succeed a real macho image comparable to V-max due to the 45 degrees forward inclined parallel 4-cylinder. Therefore we had to take a chance with a unique and original design of FZX."

This is my new favorite site. searchtempest.com Since most listings worth a poo poo are on craigslist and you gotta search city to city on that site this really makes it easier. Found a '11 speed triple I could easily afford if I sold my Streety, kinda tempted...

Spend 500-1k on suspension for your streety instead!

Try zoomthelist instead; it's less elegant, but works (it's how I found my latest bike) E: Also, where are you that you might want a Speed? I have a black '12 ABS I might could deal on

Suspension isn't just about the quality of the suspension, but also the setup - the suspension might be quality but if the spring rates are off, if the valving isn't right for your riding style, you're never going to get the best out of it. Definitely go trade bikes around if you can though - riding one will tell you more in 30 seconds then I can in hours of typing Also, I'd recommend riding the other bike, switching back to yours, and then switching again. I find I notice a lot more stuff on the second time around, on the first I'm always a little off.

You could probably part that bike out for twice that, it's all original. It's a steal if you could get it for $2500 e: to be clear, that would be a shame, it looks clean as hell. Buy it. \/ Yeah, like I ninja edit said \/ slidebite fucked around with this message at 06:09 on Apr 8, 2013 |

If you buy a bike of that vintage and rarity, in that condition, with the intention of parting it out to make a quick buck you're an rear end in a top hat.

I think the Germans just don't "get" cruisers. I may never really love the design of a Road King or Night Rod or whatever, but I can certainly appreciate that H-D knows what a cruiser should be and got the proportions right. BMW...didn't. That said, I saw an R100 chopper once and it was pretty rad. The engine design does suit that style.

Those are ugly ducklings for sure. But they're supposed to be one of the most comfortable, best handling cruisers you can get. If you haven't rode an oilhead, let me tell you that the paralever/telelever combo feels absolutely sublime for putting around. You don't get dive, when you jam the brakes the frame just kind of settles down when you brake. I hear you can hit them with a 4 valve head from an 1100 or 1150 and wake it up a little; stock they make like 60 horsepower.

I rode up to a light and saw a dude on one of those and truthfully it looked crazy enough to be a fun ride. If you gotta get a cruiser, that seems to be the way to go. BMW doesn't gently caress around.

Ha, my friend got curious and started researching BMWs, looking at the sport bikes. He made the mistake of assuming the HP4 was a smaller version of the s1000rr. After looking at the specs he decided maybe a BMW wasn't for him, seeing as ~200hp is their "small" sportbike.
