Okay, I give up trying to find the correct encoding/font combination or whatever it is that make it not display correctly. Something other than Big5? It might just be the Chinese rom's fault for changing how it displays English, somehow. The Japanese Rom I'm messing with seems to go with MS Gothic at font size 10.5 if that helps, but changing it to something else like Arial does nothing to the text. Edit: Yeah, it probably is. That movie scene Kanta likes displays the game's normal English text for either version, so in the Japanese rom it looks decent enough, but that Chinese version you have is going to look a little off. Thinking about it, if the two versions keep everything but the dialogue the same in those .txt files, you could probably go and translate all of the text from the Chinese directory and save that file to the Japanese one. I wonder: are the different scenarios alternate paths, or do they actually run one after another, with our hero winning the affection of one OL from his workplace for a while then getting dumped when she realises what a dork he is, then pursuing another woman? Winning a route gets him a beach date, sure, but not necessarily a long-term relationship.

Something I just now noticed: Fashion Lady shows up for the sale event in casual wear, yet our hero is still wearing his work clothes (white shirt and blue tie). You'd think that would be a red flag for her: he doesn't even attempt to wear a stylish outfit.

Personally, I love the idea that all of the scenarios are happening effectively simultaneously, just split up like this for player convenience, and the beach dates are all scheduled for the same day. And the ending is just all the girls finding out and beating the crap out of Kanta.
