Sadi posted:We did the turbo on my dads WRX at about that mileage. I honestly think it was more oil getting into the intake due to him slightly (sometimes a little more than slightly) overfilling the oil. Used WRX turbos are cheap though. Ooh, is that another possible cause? Because I know I overfilled it recently. Do I need to wait for the excess oil to burn off? blk - it's the stock Blue Mica (with a lot of scratches now) and it's a 2005.

Yea make sure the oil isn't overfilled, my friend has an STI that he tracks and autoxes and he had a scare earlier this year about it smoking at startup. Sure enough he had a half quart extra in there and it's been fine since.

Throatwarbler posted:Swapping 6L80s into them is apparently a thing. Holy crap, if I am reading that right they developed a system to put a 6 speed automatic in place of the 4 speed? I would be interested if the electronics alone for the swap didn't start at $1,600! Can't imagine what the transmission goes for on top of that. I think I would just get the 4L70 rebuilt with upgraded parts when the time comes. 6 speed would still be sweet though.

This has been holding down my garage slab for years now. It is actually in shambles, and I'm not really sure if I'm going to dump more money into it. It runs. Barely.

New bumpers, so whoring out some more: 04_03_1 by PictoriousPhoto, on Flickr 04_03_2 by PictoriousPhoto, on Flickr As nice as the CR front was, I'm very happy with the slimmer, more subtle look of the AP1 bumper/lip combo up front and I've always liked the AP1 rear more. Next up, vinyl wrap!

Redid my RCT4's and mounted up with 255's - love this setup, even if the color is a little loud. Only run them for a few months a year anyways. Cleaned up the truck. Think I need to refinish/bedliner the nerf bars in black, but don't want to go overkill on blacking everything out. Wagon in happier days (popped the motor, down for a bit)

The weather cleared up and I found a friend! I caught the lady who owned the S2000 checking out my MX-5 which I had a laugh at since I did essentially the same thing to her car. When she left it opened up the opportunity to get a fairly cool shot; Coming around to just about 7 weeks of ownership and I still love it like the day I got it

I got myself a new toy I got a silver one since they don't tend to stand out as much and I thought it looked nice with the dark rims. It has plenty of room for my other toys Driving that thing is the most fun I've ever had with my pants on.

It's not as engaging as the Noble, but it's pretty goddamn fun. The paddle shifters are an absolute joy - this is the first automatic I've ever owned out of 15 cars. I heard the 2012s+ were made more fun to drive with the new suspension setup.

I'd love to have a go of one at some point I highly recommend you test drive a 2012. They should let you drive a used one no problem. Stick it into R-mode, turn the paddle shifters on, and go wild. It's deceivingly fast. You don't realize how fast you are going - so in that sense it's a bit detached. But when you steer, the thing just goes. It's wizardry.
