Asked a few pages back and I know this is HoD chat right now but does anyone know how to get vassals to help you put down rebels in eu3 without being at war or is it impossible?

Impossible. They might help murder rebels in provinces that border their own if they have military access, but it doesn't happen reliably.

Remind me, is it possible for rebel takeovers to release vassals? If so, I can see a REASON why vassals might not put down rebels bands...

Goddamit a communist uprising occurred again. And this time they were so powerful my army couldn't stop them! What in the hell am I doing so badly that the communists insist on trying to take over and install their absolutely terrible system of Government?

What's your militancy and consciousness look like?

I'm not sure what Scotland's parties look like, but if their communist party is only State Capitalist and not Planned Economy, it could be rolled into a good thing. State capitalism is probably the best form for countries with smallish populations in the metropole. Interventionism is probably best overall though.

Give them military access, and then hope that the AI decides their stack is powerful enough to deal with them.

The problem is that the AI will drop military funding to 10-20%, meaning they have no morale. And they will refuse to raise that slider unless they also have rebel problems, or they are at war. So unless they have a stack of troops large enough to reliably kill your rebels without needing to raise their military slider, they'll never help out. Once they go to war and they have full morale they'll happily march all over your territory killing rebels for you.

It's planned economy unfortunately, which doesn't seem to function well with Scotland. The current Labour (or Liberal) parties are State Capitalist, which seems to work well, although Interventionism is also on the cards if I woo the population back toward Conservative.

Here is the current outlook:

The militancy is pretty high, which is not good. :(

I would use your NFs to try to get some of the populace away from the Socialist parties so they don't vote them in instead of revolting and in the meantime you need to do something about that militancy.

The Socialist outlook represents Labour though, who are actually pretty good, which is why I'm somewhat surprised by the communist uprisings.

As for reforms, pretty much all of social welfare reforms. Already have good education planning and I think healthcare is not bad either as well.

Note for better fine-tuning - you see the little red/black flag on the menu there? That denotes membership in an actual rebel faction - that is, in the event of an uprising, the pop in question would be willing to take up arms. Click on it and you'll be able to see which pops exactly are members of the rebel faction, and get yourself a pretty good idea as to why. For instance, in that screenshot there, the Glaswegian aristocrats appear to have a bee in their bonnet about the the minimum wage and are fairly poor (which would explain the minimum wage rage). Once you have all the pops lined up properly, it'll be easier to work out how to keep 'em happy. I find they're usually pissed about not having enough money more often than not, ultimately, unless you've been conquering boatloads of land and have nationalism on the brain.

The crisis system is pretty much my favorite Paradox thing ever. I just finished a humiliation war against Austria as the North German Federation (after stealing Bohemia and Moravia about ten years before) when a Hungarian delegation asked me to champion them in a crisis against Austria. Releasing Hungary would've cost 100 warscore, so there was no way Austria would agree to it.

Cut to North Germany and Russia running roughshod over Austria and Two Sicilies, Russia exiting early after crushing the two armies and taking Galicia, me getting a free sphered Hungary, Austria dropping out of GP status, and Lucca falling to Redshirts, forming Italy and wiping Two Sicilies off the map. :allears:

Now to sphere and ally Baden, Wurttemberg, and Austria, ally with them, and bring the might of North Germany, Bavaria, Austria, and Hungary down upon France! :black101:

Switch the roles around and have the player command the Taiidan Empire. The Kushan/Hiigaran incursion from the Outer Rim would be this game's equivalent of the CK2 Mongol invasion, except it makes a beeline right for your capital.

Well yeah but I can't imagine a current Paradox partner who could hope to do it justice. Unless you want to see SoaS 3: Homeworld 3.

If there was a particular team in mind then that would give some indication of what the game might have looked like, which is why I was curious.

Is there a reason I can't produce tank divisions in Victoria 2? I have the factories and have made tanks many times before, but after the last Great War (the third one now) I can't seem to produce the tanks required to make a tank division. I've tried screwing around with the trade screen, but I have no idea what I'm doing and don't think I did anything to help. The production screen says I make 6 a day? But it seems like the world stockpile never changes or I ever seem to get these tanks. Or anyone.

What are your guys' strategy for factory building? Build a factory that seems to estimate a decent profit and uses resources I have in the state or at least in my country, pray it actually turns a profit. Subsidize it right away because even "consistently" profitable factories shut down due to the insane price/demand fluctuations.

I leave it to my capitalists to decide; the AI knows better than me what will sell!

Agean90

Depends on the size of the nation

When building factories, I just let the AI get a project going, then fund it to completion.

In large nations I just let the AI do its thing and keep subsidies off on everything but military supplies so I dont wind up with no artillery when the largest supplier gets a bug up its rear end.

In small ones I'll micromanage, as they lack the population to really go hog wild in my experience.

The AI is a bit of a crapshoot, but sometimes it makes really good choices. My most recent game as persia had them build a cloths factory just before I got sphere'd by Russia, which apparently had an insatiable demand for them. Sure I had to close my fabric factory, but that was the quickest I've ever seen a factory fill up to capacity in a nation of under 3 million.

Looking at the v2 working hours laws I can't help but think lowering them should increase productivity while driving up the luxury demands instead of the inverse right now.

After all, a century of productivity studies confirm that 8 hours is pretty much the ideal point.

Your projected balance projects stuff like construction/troop costs all at once over the reality that they'll trickle in. So in reality you'll be buying those 400 units of artillery over the year, but the ledger will include their TOTAL cost remaining every day since in theory you could some how buy them all in one day if they were on the market.
