He was one of the dudes in KMD, he wasn't KMD (he went by Zev Luv X then). Also I really think the contrast between the albums is great (I think Subroc died while they were making Black Bastards).

Also for newer stuff, another album I can't remember where I heard about it but that's been getting a ton of play is "Rawhide" by Jeremiah Jay & Oliver The 2nd. I think dude Jeremiah had another mixtape (which I'll have to check because the production on this is ridiculous). It's kinda what I would've expected from Wu had they been fans of westerns instead of kung-fu movies.

yeah i probably should have worded that differently. subroc did die during the recording of black bastards and it's pretty noticeable at times. the contrast between mr.hood and black bastards because of that is really interesting yeah.

Jay-Z is executive producer for the soundtrack, that is making it hard to search on who produced the 100$ Bill track. I'm sure the information will surface soon enough though. I find it hard to believe that Jay produced the actual beat on that track. Being executive producer basically means he curated the soundtrack. Anyway, to my knowledge, he has never produced any music for himself?

You know... the beat almost sounds like a Kanye production but if that was in fact the case, his name would be all over it.

Yeah, that's what I meant. He's a producer on the film, which is what made it difficult to find out who produced the track.

I thought Kanye too, because it sounded like some of the stuff off Watch The Throne or Cruel Summer. Mike Dean maybe?

Just listened to Cudi's album and only kept two songs - one out of sympathy. I have to stop giving any sort of credit to the musical tastes of my friends and coworkers.

Also, I just now ran across this video, and for some odd reason I gave it a shot. Good thing I did because I think this video is amazing and the song is ok. I absolutely hate Thrift Shop but this song is much better. He still has the worst rap hands of anyone I know though.

According to Despot, that Jay-Z Gatsby joint is produced by E*Vax of Ratatat. That's despot saying "hunnit dolla bills", it's a sample lifted from his upcoming album.

I don't think his flow is the problem, or at least as much as his persona and delivery are. He just comes off as lame and tries too hard to be dramatic. Someone earlier mentioned that Lupe has terrible breathing - well Macklemore owns that poo poo.
It's almost as if he purposely uses it in an attempt to give this "I put my heart into my rhymes" kind of effect. After quickly going through his lengthy album I noticed that almost every track ended with some sort of dramatic breakdown or drop-off.
There were times when the song would've been much better off ending more abruptly, or having the beat fade out. Instead, nearly every song has this epic closing and it gets really tiresome.

E: Well poo poo, I might just become a full fledged Danny Brown fan after all.

E2: Ryan Lewis seems to be the genius behind his music. Any other notable work by this guy?

Mack's flow (outside of like... "The Magic") is weak. Both lyrically, technically and aesthetically. Chance the rapper has an annoying aesthetic, but his lyrics and technical skill are on point. Mack sucks. The best thing about any mack track is the Ryan Lewis production.
