Yeah, it's the paint equivalent of plastic glue, chemically bonding with the plastic. It's intended for lawn furniture and poo poo you leave outside, I wouldn't recommend it for minis.

I've had trouble with primer coming off in the past and been painting over Fuzion for awhile. It's generally worked ok, but I can see what you mean about the loss of detail. Would there be any decent spray primers you can recommend me instead? It might just be a lovely batch or something, but the Citadel stuff I had always seemed to come off really easy.

That's because citadel primer isn't really primer, its just paint. Anything that is a regular brand and says primer on the can should work fine. Krylon, Rustoleum, stuff like that. I would avoid generic brands like Valspar.

Alright, I've got a question. I oathed 4 models originally, and I took photos of them for the Detective's Journal. Now I want to add a 5th model to my oath. Will it need it's own set of WIP shots for me to get credit for the journal? Because if so, I'll probably just skip oathing it and just paint it on the side.

I fit a ton of them on a page, along with some signs and posters and graffiti and such for later use, and just snipped them up and glued them on. Future litter! This is a question better directed to the Painting and Modeling Megathread, if only to reduce clutter in this thread. Having said that, any auto-body primer will be as close to perfect as you can get without diving into more complicated processes. Oath Complete! This is also a successful Awwww, a BABY! We're big King's Field fans here, so I bought this model as an excuse to paint a Moonlight Sword. The rest of the color scheme followed from there. Detektuv’s Jurnal: May Fun fact: I reused these pictures to write a short 'how to' for some of my friends. They bought into the Reaper Bones Kickstarter and are starting to get nervous over just how many minis they'll need to paint. And on that note, now to move onto the remaining several hundred solo figs I have in storage somewhere.

Pierzak posted:If you're talking about general Bones quality and not that particular mini, a poster on the Reaper forum did exactly that - painted a metal mini and its Bones equivalent in the same color scheme and put up a poll which is the metal one. Opinions were divided. Most people in the thread could not tell a difference between the two painted, but then after they were told which was which some miraculously found flaws in the Bones one.

Indolent Bastard posted:Could you link it? I can't find the thread right now, but it was a mind flayer, in metal and bones, that he painted with the same scheme. The only real hint was the staff was slightly more curved on the Bones one. Bones is legit not quite as good at detail as metal can be with really really good casts, but Reaper casts are not cutting edge amazing to where it would make a difference.

http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?/topic/47477-bathalian-bones-vs-metal-challenge/ I think this is it. Interesting stuff. I may have to replicate this experiment. I agree that for most Reapers, the level of detail probably transfers really well. There are some figs that I know will be nicer in Bones from a breakage standpoint.

nathonicus posted:A bunch of us live in mixed fear/anticipation of the bones kickstarter arriving. Thanks! The fig in question is actually Ironwind, but I have tried painting 3 Bones figs before now: a purple worm, a gnoll, and a ghost. I'm pretty pleased with the 2 larger figures. The ghost is okay, but honestly, I think I might not really like the sculpt itself, rather than how it transfers to plastic. I'm still optimistic for the Kickstarter.

I, Signal, do Oath the following models: One Corvus Belli/Infinity 28mm Auxilia, lightly converted to be an Order Sergeant specialist. Ten Games Workshop Rhinos, eight of which have been converted to be Predator Destructors for Epic, a 6mm scale game. These have been primed red because that's the color of primer I had, and I'm too cheap to get more gray. The Rhino in the back is just poorly primed. These will be a Themed Group. In the future, if I'm doing 6mm vehicles do I still need the full 10 to qualify? To showcase the conversion, I've taken a picture with an unmodified Rhino, the source of the turret, and another Predator which I completed last year:
