I got the Dragon's Breath magic bow when I beat the dragon, and just found Dragon's Quickening in the Everfall. From what I've read people say Dragon's Quickening is the best magic bow in the vanilla game (may be better in BBI, probably is), but it looks worse from what I'm seeing. Is it only better at Dragon Forged levels? Or is there some stat I'm missing when I look?

The stats were changed in DA. All the weapons received from the dragon are now better than the ones which can be bought in Everfall.

Interesting... makes me want to head over to BBI and see how I do, although at level 48, I suspect I'd just get wrecked.

Nah, go try it out. That's plenty high enough for the first five or six areas of BBI.

I first tackled BBI when I was level 60 or so and got through just fine, although it did take about half an hour to kill the first big boss.

I bought this today for PS3 and am currently doing a quest down a well, and stupid lizard things with spears are killing me alot. In other news, throwing things off cliffs is way more fun than I hoped. Beyond what's on the beforeiplay.com wiki, is there anything really major I should know? I'm being a Fighter at the moment.

Oh I've added myself to the spreadsheet too.

There's also a spot just at the border of his head and neck where I don't think he'll grab you, but actually getting in that sweet spot is probably more difficult than climbing between his teeth (which I didn't know!) so yeah, melee is literally the baby class (because they're ankle-biters, you see). That said, once he starts stomping his pattern is very recognizable and you shouldn't get hit that much.

Some times you can avoid being grabbed or avoid being hurt by Daimon setting himself on fire by doing a double jump from their back and then hanging on to them again on your way down.

Bring a caster with ice magic, it's pretty ruinous. Try to circle around to their backs and attack their tails, once the tails are off they're considerably easier to kill. They like to spit poison so bring mithridae or whatever it's called--the herb that dispels poison. Bring a lot of health items too, like greenwarish, dessicated herbs or potent greenwarish--make dessicated herbs by combining wormwood sap (Drops from goblins) or cloudwine (combine small nuts and harspud milk) with greenwarish. Either find potent greenwarish around the world (There's some in Cassardis, on a ledge by the church overlooking the sea) or make it by combining greenwarish with sweet pollen (Found in bushes or made by combining sunbright with moonglow.)

Other than that, don't be afraid to level up a bit before tackling the quest. I don't attempt it before level 6, if that helps. This game will not tell you when you're out of your league, you have to figure that out for yourself. It's pretty old school that way, and can be frustrating if you're coming from RPGs that scale with your level like Skyrim.

Any must have augments for a magic archer? I know about the 15% cast reduction from sorcerer, and I'm leveling the mage job currently to see if there's anything good I can get from that.

Mage has a 10% more magick augment and Sorcerer has a 20% more magick augment. Strider has some augments good for climbing if you're going to be doing that too.

It's difficult. I was actually wondering what bearing the offline Ur Dragon has on your ability to get through BBI, because if it's any indication, I'm not ready. I really haven't given it a good go using wakestones yet though, so maybe I'll get through it fine. As a magic archer, hunter bolt seems to work pretty well, so if I didn't have to worry about my pawns always being dead (right now I've got a couple that are a few levels lower than me), I could probably run around spamming that and get through it.

I would think at level 74, having been through BBI, you'd probably be just fine with the Ur Dragon.

So the Ur-dragon is apparently weak until the 23rd? What does that mean exactly? Is he just like the first month or so of DD or is it like the grace period all the time?

EDIT: By the way, for the online Ur-dragon, how much damage do you need to do to have a chance at getting the rewards for contributing to the kill? And when do you get them, when the dragon dies or when he flies away after you've done enough damage?

Just got DA earlier this week and been playing it an hour or so each day, fuckin around doing the starter town quests. Playing a strider, with my fighter pawn Babycakes. Once I turn him into a warrior there damned well better be a fur loincloth for him to wear. Ensnare is amazing and made the saurian fight in the well mission pretty easy. Just finished taking the hydra head to Gran Soren and I'm around level 14 or 15. If anyone is starting over and wants to rent a giant manbaby fighter my PSN ID is Gregadactyl.

You're in luck. There's something called the Cursed Gold Belt which is a loin cloth. Red cheetah pattern and everything. It's probably the only one in the game. Downside is that it's some pretty high end poo poo from Bitterblack.

I like this game but the inclination system is an unbelievable load of horseshit.

I tried the well quest after chopping off the hydra's head. Since the Saurians are cold-blooded and soaked in water, Ice King just froze them all.

Looks like most everything else is weak to fire, so I don't think I'll actually give Ice King pawn just ice and healing spells.

It really should be when grace period is over. I don't know what exactly this "Ur Dragon" special thing is doing though.

To expound, the chain of events should be like this:

1. People fight Ur-Dragon for an eternity
2. Ur-Dragon "dies" (this is really a server based calculation)
3. For the next ~30 minutes, anyone who walks into Ur-Dragon's chamber gets a "grace period" Ur-Dragon, that is basically on the cusp of death and just has to have all of its hearts punched a few times for it to die.
4. Collect loots.
5. Once the grace period is over, a new Ur-Dragon generation begins

They just hang around you all the time and never attack anything. At best, they're useless, and at worst, they bring unwanted attention your way. It's basically the exact opposite of what the description implies.

A guardian pawn sticks close to the Arisen, and then the thing on the right happens:

And on top of that they don't aggressively kill enemies, and that's all I want (non-mage) pawns to do. If their sword isn't swinging or bow isn't twanging constantly then they are of no use to me.

Yeah, hit start, and go to status -> profile on the pawn. It will show the top two inclinations. Apparently the lower ones that are not displayed also matter but not in any way I understand.

All you need to do is delete your DA save. If your DD save is still on your console, and it should be because Dark Arisen doesn't automatically delete it or anything, you will see the message about the bonuses again the next time you load DA.

I'm just glad I managed to whack the online Ur-Dragon in a grace period a long time ago, and ended up with everything I wanted. Even got the mask I wanted most. Of course, since DA everything I got from that is now outclassed. Not in looking spiffy though. Siggy mask is still best at that.

I guess Ice King still uses the greaves in Bitterblack. I think I'm going to forgo him having a big blue robe and a crown when I'm in there still. But on the mainland, Ice King all the way.

Tried online the online ur dragon a bit today and it felt a whole lot like banging my head against a brick wall. In ranger mode I've got about 3k base damage and so it should be about 6K with the conq buffs, but I'm not even denting his health.

I guess I just need to get lucky and hit the grace period if I ever want ur items, because I'm sure as hell never going to have an impact.

Yeah, he probably had a poo poo ton of hit points at the time.

from the gamefaqs post on Ur-Dragon:

• I am not doing any damage!!

You are doing damage. It's just that Online Ur has a tremendous amount of HP and it takes a lot of players around the world to bring his HP down to zero, thus activating Grace Period. Also be sure to observe the blood that is coming out from Ur when you attack him. Purple Blood = damage, Grey Blood = no damage. Try to hit the glowing spots so you will draw purple blood.
