Holy poo poo, that's Wesker's actual voice actor on stream for Salt Fest. Him commentating on Marvel was certainly a thing.

This event appears to be massively behind schedule and the venue closes in like 80 minutes. Whoops.

Vindication was kindof a mess, yeah. The tournament organizers were working hard trying to keep everything running but there were issues with the PA system, the venue didn't have quite enough space, and they didn't have enough staff for the number of games that were running. They started DQing people at the drop of a hat to keep things moving, I won two marvel matches that way. A friend of mine really got the short end of the stick from it. It was like 3 hours into Injustice and neither of us had played our first round. He talks to the TO to see whats up and finds out we'd both been DQ'd for missing our matches (when both of us had been in the building listening for callouts the whole time). He loses his second match so he decided to run across the street to starbucks and then, funny thing, he gets called up again; I told the TO "you told him he lost his first round, he thought he was out, I can call him and he'll walk back over" but the guy had no sympathy for that story and DQ'd him.

There's really got to be a better way to do this poo poo than shouting people's tags into a crowd, somebody make a tournament program that automatically sends out text messages to people when and where they need to report.

That's ironic because I got home from work and tried to watch a little bit of Injustice on offcast. I watched them wait for a dude on the stream station for literally 15 minutes while the entire stream chat screamed to DQ him. Then he showed up, picked Flash, checked his buttons for 2 minutes, borrowed a different stick, checked his buttons for 5 more minutes, then got bodied trying to sweep over and over again, didn't even land a combo. I didn't realize the tournament was so DQ-happy and turned it off immediately thinking I might only see 3 matches an hour.

Do TOs use texts already? Seems like it wouldn't have to be automatic to work well, you could use a laptop with AIM and a spreadsheet to send out texts like "You have 15min to get to X for your first round match," and they could easily text back if they were playing another match in a different game or something. It wouldn't take much longer than calling their name 10x over the PA system.

Relying on cell phone service will be just as bad if not worse. What else could they do, besides those weird blinky vibrating things chain restaurants use for waiting list people? Giant screens everywhere with your names flashing would be too expensive.

Where are people holding tournaments that cell phone service is unreliable? I've only had issues at venues with literally tens of thousands of people around (football games and music festivals). At EVO last year cell phone service was completely fine.

Anyways, it wouldn't have to replace the current technology of "yelling out a guy's registered handle", just complement it. Couldn't be any worse.

Not everyone has the same coverage on their carrier. As a supplement, it would be fine, but I think in most cases, it probably wouldn't actually make things much better, since you'd just have people claiming their battery died, or that the text was late (I've gotten texts days late on T-mobile) or that they just couldn't hear/feel their phone go off or that they were in a deadzone and had no service. It wouldn't necessarily hurt to do it, but it isn't really a solution either.

I dunno, I'm as stream monster as they come but STOOPID and rear end in a top hat thrown out for no reason (Player B counters Player A's pressure with a smart reversal, this is somehow stupid) are about as far from funny as it gets, especially when it constitutes at least half of Lee Chung's commentary.
