I'm more willing to believe in somebody in public acting crazy than a company instituting a policy to take a picture of receipts from the trash as "proof".

"All surfaces will be cleaned and polished with unique products that buff the surface and repel the soil." Or just some random unlabeled spray bottle this guy pulls out of his backpack before he hassles a family to get out of his way so he can take some digital photos of an ATM inside a grocery store, whichever. It may have been the dude's job, but I think Jonathan being creeped out was understandable based on how he said the guy behaved.

I was just listening to another rare episode in which, like that adoption argument, Seth had an outlook with which I disagreed; Jonathan was telling a story about his friend who went into an Apple store to get her hard drive replaced, and instead of sending away for it through the official channels, with a cost of like 500 bucks, the tech dude made an excuse and surreptitiously hooked her up with one they had in the back in like 10 minutes, and Seth seemed to genuinely think this merited only a 20 dollar tip or less. No way, Jonathan and I thought. Getting a sweet hookup like that called for something more like a hundred bucks.

The thing that I took away from motorcycle ATM guy is that even if that is the guy's job, he may have also been a bit of a germaphobe, and that's why he didn't want to get close to it before it was sprayed down. That's a crazy job though. One of those that you'd never even really think about before someone tells you.

Episode 199: Jonathan tells the story about a crazy drunk couple at an airport. Girl takes off her sweater is like, "I'M HAWT!" They eventually sit down behind J on the airplane and the husband is trying to get the wife to calm down. "Baby, they will throw you off this plane so fast ..." in Jonathan's amazing Dr. Phil/Hank Hill voice.

Could you imagine how the story would have gone if they didn't get kicked off though? It would have been even more amazing.

I told Jonathan the mix down is too quiet. He put it to twitter. His reply after a ton of, "Yeah, I have to crank it" was "totes." I feel kinda bad but I've always gotta crank it and can barely hear it in public at the gym and such.

Yeah, I can basically only listen at work where its pretty quiet. If I'm at the gym or walking outside even at full blast It's too low to fully hear.

I love how Seth talking about things he learned on the monsterweb eventually ended up with him naming the segment, "Things Seth Learned on the Monsterweb". Now that it's like half the content on the show, he doesn't even need to whip it out. I just loved hearing him say, "This week in Things Seth Learned on the Monsterweb..."

The only thing I worry about is that you have to promise to listen through to like 20. I can see people only listening to ep.1 and being like "Why do people like this so much?" They take a few eps to get into their groove, and I believe those earliest ones are of interest only to people who already love them. I think the best advice is to watch the youtube videos first, and then maybe to start around 40 or around 60 and listen until you know you're hooked, then rewind to 1 and jam through. Others have their own ideas.

Episode 57, where discussion of the cancellation of the Hollywood Christmas parade turns to Jonathan's story about his dad getting drunk during the parade, punching the Pioneer chicken, and getting kicked out of magic castle; I have absolutely no recollection of this story, but man does it own. I've been thinking for a long time about going through and doing one hour long cuts of all of the personal stories these guys tell, and haVing them in one place. They're usually all solid gold, like Seth's "bitch night terrors" throwing up 57 maraschino cherries.

It sounds like someone is trimming the hedges and mowing the grass, then some motorcycles rip by, and Seth's mom calls and the land line rings, and he just lets it go. Then Jonathan tells his story of being stuck in a diarrhea shower, and having diarrhea feet, while Seth hangs on for dear life through all the details.

I started in the 110s or 120s, whenever they started filming, worked my way up to the late 200s, also while listening to the most recent now and then, and finally I decided to start from the beginning and work my way back up. There's no wrong way to do it, bits I've heard before are still funny, there's no way to pay full attention to any given episode and you also pick up references you missed before on repeat listens.

The biggest benefit I can think of, in terms of listening in chronological order, is you get to hear them introduce and explain new segments instead of just jumping into them. Sure, most of them require about a sentence of explanation, but I could imagine new listeners wondering who the hell Amy is.

I listened through eps 1-5 today. I know posters in this thread have repeated that they start off strong but it really did suprise me how episode 2 could of come out last week and I would've barely noticed. I've gone through all the eps twice now so I'm sure it helps that I know their characters well but besides a few dated references (mostly celebrity names) the format of the show has always been the same. I think because the show is based on the friendship between Seth & Jonathan which existed long before the podcast the dynamic between the two of them was strong right out of the gate. So far the worst parts of early episodes have been 'Myspace Person of the Week'. Mainly because its obviously dated at this point and inaccessible, but because it's mostly new age weirdos that Jonathan seems to have genuine enthusiasm for and despite listening to these guys fake enthusiasm for humours sake for hundreds of hours I'm not 100% sure we're meant to be laughing at all of these people. Jonathan really just wants to talk about them. tnimark posted:I've been meaning to check out this podcast for a while. Is there any reason why I shouldn't just start at ep 1? I know its daunting to have 372 hours ahead of you but I'd really recommend going from the start. This show is just two friends with no radio experience figuring things out as they go. Listening in order and hearing how insane anecdotes lead to both new segments and evolve the language of the show is really rewarding. If you're short on time and desperately need to get into the vibe of the show the episodes they filmed in the 120's are really strong but I say start at episode one, once you get into it you'll find you're listening to a couple episodes a day and it doesn't take long to catch up. Skip them and you'll miss wonderful insights such as: Jonathan Larroquette/Episode 5 posted:Interracial porn is basically, could be... It has all the ingredients to be the greatest form of pornography ever made, except for the fact that the black dudes talk.
