Yeah, 121 years ago. Then the Everton committee left to form their own team. Not sure what your point is.

Some quality named there. Thames Ironworks FC :black101:

Now known as West Ham United (hence the hammers on the crest and the Irons nickname) - the Ironworks went bankrupt at least partly because the scabs at Samuda Shipworks, adjacent to them on the Isle of Dogs, went on working through the Dock strikes of the turn of the century.

Samuda didn't have a works team, but many of their workers were followers of the local independent football club (the bad blood between Thames Ironworks and Samudas extending to running street battles at times) who eventually left the Isle of Dogs and moved south of the river in 1910, but didn't change their name, which is why Millwall FC are so completely despised in Millwall itself.

(Oh and West Ham play in claret and blue now because an Aston Villa player who happened to be in charge of washing the kits lost a bet to a West Ham player and was unable to come up with the cash, a move that foreshadowed Harry Redknapp's transfer policies by a hundred years)

Is there anything other than poo poo new-build buy-to-let flats in Millwall itself these days? It's hard to imagine somewhere that close to Canary Wharf has much local character left.

We will become evil and the stars will come alive
Parts of canary wharf are still desperately poor council stock, the nicest flats there have joined the buy-to-let market as well. Bad enough that it has no character, but imagine having to live around that kind of wealth disparity. The new museum of london is OK though.

There was a big ruck at the weekend down in canada square the last time they had a football match on the screen there.

A small image quiz to prepare for the CL final: These people all have played in CL finals for two different clubs:

http://sporza.be/cm/sporza/extra/games/fotogenie/1.1636951

Solution:

Henry - Ballack - Evra - Deco - Deschamps - Davids - Hargreaves - Boksic - Makelélé - Lucio - Giuly - Sousa

There's still some tiny shreds of community spirit left on the old council estates but they're doing everything they can to eradicate that.
