Oath Complete! Halfway done with nathonicus's Genestealers. Woof. I set this dude aside because I wanted to use him for the speed painting objective, but then I forgot about it and started putting paint on him before timestamping, so maybe next time. Anyhow, here's a few WIPs of him for the Detective's Jurnal I've been really digging grey primer lately. The stuff is hella clingy though. My hand was grey for days. No way Simple Green can handle this stuff. Block in some colors before the inking/drybrushing/highlighting begins. Weird that this photo manages to eliminate both highlights and shadows at once. Oath Complete Came pretty close, super glad I got them done. Journal: I took pics as I painted my Skarlock. Here it is as I began, primed white. I didn't realize how bad this pic is, but here I've washed in black all the areas that ultimately will be metallic. I used to actually paint such areas, but it took too long. Washing works just as well and can provide a bit of preshading even. I've also painted the soul and given it a wash of Biel-tan Green. I'm awful at doing WIP or tutorial pics since I get caught up in the painting. But here I've basecoated and washed everything. The soul is complete and I've started applying glow effects. Final product: The base is shiny because I use a layer of brush on gloss prior to spray gloss. For some reason, my P3 primer chips off the base really easily. This helps keep it on there solidly. Parts List for the Skarlock: P3 White Primer Menoth White Base Menoth White Highlight Pig Iron Cold Steel Rhulic Gold Abaddon Black Moot Green Scorched Brown Cryx Bane Base Charadon Granite Squig Orange Adeptus Battlegrey Astronomican Grey Biel-tan Green Agrax Earthshade Nuln Oil Dead Static Grass Liquitex brush on gloss varnish Glosscote + Dullcote I guess this means I am doubling up this month as well. I totally meant to do some final touches and finish the bases after a nightshift, but now it's already 7am so time to rush some photos for... Oath Complete! Der Techtiv's Jurnal and Parts List 1) Prime with White Vallejo Surface Primer, liberally wash with Nuln Oil on armour and Devlan Mud on the pants. 2) Say "gently caress it", go out and buy some Carroburg Crimson and Drakenhof Nightshade, throw that on the armour and sword too. 3) 50/50 P3 Sanguine Base and Skorne Red, diluted down with Vallejo Glaze Medium for the armour. Change your whole mind about the colour scheme, do pants with Zandri dust and Glaze medium again. Glaze the swords with P3 Arcane Blue, and glaze the metal tubing with Eshin Grey to prep for metallics (seriously, my solution to everything is to glaze it) 3b) Get a phone with a better camera. 3c) Also I guess prime your bases at some point. 4) Pick out white details in Ceramite White. Another coat of the Sanguine/Skorne mix where needed, metal details in Sycorax Bronze. Wash everything again for the hell of it. 5) Stipple Celestra grey and Administratum Grey over some Secret Weapon Flight Deck Bases, base rims in Eshin Grey, a diluted wash of Drakenhof and Nuln, then just give up and bluetack that poo poo on because you're out of time. 6) Take a terrible photo with your nice new camera. So altogether that gives me Parts List and Detectives Journal (and hence Double The Fun). Also, a Themed Group!. No extra point for basing though, because those are terrible. Edit: Fixed one of the paint names.

Oath CompleteAix Athanatos posted:I, Aix Athanatos, oath two order sergeants, one specialist sergeant, one teutonic knight and one magister knight from Infinity. Here's some better images for you wonderful folks: And a link to the entire album, which is only a little bit out of order: http://imgur.com/a/Vc4hF Backstory Capitalists and zealots are strange bedfellows, but the genesis of PanOceania made their union inevitable. As a result of this odd combination, cults began to appear holding the entrepreneurs of old up as heroes and ideals: Saints Rockefeller, Smith, and Friedman began to appear in private shrines across the O12. The church doesn't condone these unofficial sainthoods but does nothing to stamp them out; this practice has brought new wealth to the church through wealthy and superstitious executives hoping to gain favour in business dealings. One cult, however, is considered to be dangerous by the church and has been openly condemned. Their holy figure is mysterious and enigmatic; no primary sources still exist of his life, if they ever did. Scholars of this cult have found only secondary and tertiary sources which tell highly colourful and allegorical stories. They detail a scion of enterprise who dons metaphorical armour of ingenuity and wealth to do battle with forces of destruction and chaos to bring stability and prosperity to the people of the world. Enemies of capitalism are depicted as being blasted to smithereens and crushed beneath the might of this metaphorical armour of free enterprise. Adherents of the Cult of Saint Stark have even gone so far as to train themselves in martial arts; the wealthier members commissioning power armour in the image of that worn by St. Stark himself and equipping private armies of similar-minded true believers. Even in the face of open condemnation by the clergy the anonymous cultists do battle as Tony of Iron did against the forces who would bring chaos and instability to the Human Sphere and threaten prosperity. Themed List Three regular Iron Man suits, one Stealth Suit, one Iron Patriot. Detektuv's Jurnal Basecoats mostly done. Basecoats done, as well as washing and some highlights. I, Schmetterling, hereby declare OATH COMPLETE! I painted this model as the first part of figuring out how to teach my little brother how to paint. Officially, it's not very pretty so he can probably emulate it on his first try. Unofficially, life stuff + too much dust in my painting area meant that lots of little things got rushed. Oh and I promise that in real life her shoes, gloves, and sash are all turquoise, not blue. I really like the new Wyrd plastics! Misaki is such a dynamic model. so dynamic Ninjas can be bright blue, right? DETEKTUV'S JURNAL First, skin! Then, blue! (And black) Then paint some turquoise bits, and splash blue ink EVERYWHERE! Then paint the metal, and colour in the magic yellow! (There is actually a reason for this! Yellow is the faction colour for Ten Thunders, and is also the only colour my brother hasn't yet allocated in his colour scheme ideas. He likes lots of colours. ) Paint the base brown, and fill in all the red detail bits! (This picture shows the turquoise bits better than the main oath pics, and also shows the mysteriously blank knee-guard thing on her right leg. The other one has a dragon on it, so I don't know why this one was blank.) Highlights! Highlight everything! And change your mind about the base colour, and paint it white again. Finally remember to paint the handle of the bisento, and paint the base rim black! And remember, a good painter constantly repaints the details until they are unrecognisable, due to the tiny specks of dust that love to land on your model just as you finish a new coat of wet paint! Parts List: White Knight Quick Dry Flat Enamel (I don't know where to buy good primer in Australia) Coloured craft sand from Spotlight Cheap PVA Glue Cheap Super Glue Contacta Professional Plastic Glue Vallejo Game Color Pale Flesh Vallejo Game Color Elf Skintone Vallejo Game Color Cold Grey Vallejo Game Ink Blue Mantic Warpaints Red Mantic Warpaints Brown Secret Weapon Washes Heavy Body Black (I love this wash!) Glade Guard Closeup Spellweaver Front Spellweaver Back No closeup pics of the Necron Lord, because I hate how the scheme ended up and am probably going to scrub him clean and try again another time. And for the Detektuv's Jurnal, here are a series of WIP shots: WIP: Undercoating things to help the real colors go on better. WIP: Basecoats added. WIP: Washing things what needs washes. WIP: Nearly there! Basic highlights done, time to pick out further details and then finish basing the models! For scoring, I'm just claiming the Detektuv's Jurnal and Themed Group for this month. Oath Complete! I, Forkbanger, oathed to paint 3 Ronin and 1 Convict Gunslinger for my Malifaux Viktoria's crew. Here they are! I've detected these things for my Detective Journal- A base coat- Washes- Starting with the details- And I've doubled my fun by painting them to match the box art (which is used on model's stat cards in Malifaux, so I know which Ronin has been stabbed and how badly). ... .. . .. ... I have also just found out that the Wyrd website is making GBS threads the bed, and I can't link to their catalogue. This is probably because they're overhauling everything fo rthe Malifaux 2.0 public beta that rolls out tomorrow. Here's the Wyrd Convict Gunslinger- (Yes, mine looks like a chubby bumblebee. The combination of stripes and yellow that was horrible to paint.) And here's the Ronin- (The flowers were superfun to freehand, btw.) Also, superglad we had until 1am to make these posts. So. Oath Completed! and its an Awww Baby's First Oath First up we have the 10 Assault Marines One the table Close up on Brother Sergeant Vigilius Next we have Hoarluk DoomShaper, Rage of Dhunia A shot from behind Detektuv's Jurnal Assault Marines: After their first wash Some work on their packs After some metal paint went on almost finished Hoarluk DoomShaper: After some base coating Some work on the scrolls A little more work Almost complete One Time Bonus: Back Story Sorry in advance for the wall of text, sort of didn't realize how long this was till after I wrote it. Also excuse my horrible Space Marine fan fiction, but at least I tried right? The cold emotionless face of the Necron Overlord was unsettling, he was still as a statue as the frantic battle played out around him. Lord Librarian Zephyrinus had but only a moment to reflect on this creature before the blade of a Necron warrior demanded his full attention. They were crude fighters which lacked any of the finesse and grace of a Space Marine, but what they lacked in skill the made up for in sheer numbers. It seemed to Zephyrinus that for each one he slew two would crawl out of the nearby Ghost Arks. Bright red blood splattered all over Zephyrinus’s blue power armor, the Necron Lord had struck a new pose, his twisted sword glowed as it dripped blood on a fallen Dark Angel. The Lord couldn’t know what that sword truly was, he most likely wielded it because it was heavy and well balanced, he knew nothing of its true power. Forged on the corrupted planet of Caliban and caste into the warp when the planet torn apart, this sword was a tool of Chaos and in the right hands could spell destruction for billions. Zephyrinus had come to retrieve the weapon, to keep it from ever reaching those hands, and also to protect the terrible secret it was evidence too. “Master Zephyrinus, we must retreat. We cannot hold against their numbers!” Brother Clement was right of course, there was no chance for them to hold, but they could not retreat. There was nowhere to retreat to. The Necrons had somehow jammed their Vox and there was no way to call for reinforcements or a ship to evacuate them. They were all alone and they were going to die. Zephyrinus was unusually comfortable with this realization. As he saw it death in battle was the logical and fitting end to his life. He was created to fight and die for the Emperor and there was something beautiful in the culmination of his creator’s intent. While his training kept his body fighting furiously his mind anxiously waited for its climax, and the peace that death brought with it. He was almost deafened by the sound of an explosion, two more quickly followed. Zephyrinus instantly recognized the familiar sound of melta bombs detonating. He looked up to see smoke and ruin where only seconds ago Ghost Arks pumped out warriors. Parting the smoke and flames green figures flew towards the brutal melee. Zephyrinus knew it was the Seraphim from the sound of their jet packs, which were older, louder, and according to brother sergeant Vigilius superior in every way to the newer models. The first of the flying Space Marines crashed to the ground destroying a Necron Warrior with the force of the impact and then instantly sprung into battle. The Seraphim were known for their ferocity in melee combat and they were living up to their reputation. Dozens of Necron Warriors had already fallen, some ripped apart by the Seraphim’s chain swords while others were effortless shot with bolt pistols. At this rate the Seraphim would quickly over run the Necron force. “Brother Clement, you better regroup your men and push the attack, unless you want Vigilius to claim all the glory.” As the Space Marine sergeant bark out orders Librarian Zephyrinus sighed, cleared his mind, and began to use his psykic powers on his men, empowering their minds to strike more accurately. He scanned the battle field looking for the statuesque Necron Overlord but instead of finding a still robotic man he saw the Overlord engaged in heated battle with Vigilius. Brother Sergeant Vigilius leader of the Seraphim was a difficult man to lead. He, along with his unit, had been extremely decorated before joining the Conclave. All Dark Angels had heard stories of their heroics and bravery, and their fame was not limited to just their chapter. All over the Imperium of Man people were familiar with the Dark Angel’s Seraphim assault unit and their record of excellence in battle. Vigilius had enjoyed his reputation and the accolades he had earned. Now he and his unit, like all members of the Conclave, were dead to the rest of the world. No one would sing songs of their victories, paint murals of their battles, or write histories of their deeds; no one writes of the deeds of the dead. Although Vigilius’s honor and loyalty to the Emperor prevented him from ever being insubordinate he saw his transfer to the Conclave as an underserved punishment for surviving impossible odds. Zephyrinus would find no brotherly bond or war hardened friendship with Vigilius, only distain. But Zephyrinus didn’t need a friend, he needed a killer, and Vigilius and the Seraphim were excellent killers. Zephyrinus approached Vigilius and the Overlord cautiously; he did not want to intrude on their duel unless it was absolutely necessary. The Necron Overlord struck first swinging his twisted metal sword at Vigilius so powerfully that if he landed a blow even Vigilius’s power armor would not withstand it. Fortunately Vigilius was able to avoid the deadly blade, he ducked and in one fluid motion he brought his power axe smashing into the chest of the Overlord. The blow, which would have killed even a space marine, merely fazed the powerful metal body of the Necron leader sending him reeling back. As the Overlord stepped back he released something bug like from his cloak. The insect like device left the Overlord’s hand, sprouted wings, and flew towards Vigilius’s face. In the heat of the fight Vigilius’s focus was completely on his opponent and he didn’t even see the probe coming for him. The scarab flew directly into Vigilius’s ear and began to bore into his brain. Zephyrinus had seen such a trick before from the Necrons and knew that it would try to control Vigilius’s mind to make him attack himself rather than the Necron Lord. Zephyrinus concentrated and bolstered Sergeant Vigilius mental fortitude with his psycer powers in hopes to foil the Necron’s trap. Zephyrinus was apparently successful as Vigilius continued to fight as if nothing had happened. Vigilius shot his pistol quickly at the Overlord who quickly stepped out of the way on the incoming bullets. This, however, was exactly what Vigilius had hoped for. He had already begun giving power to his jet pack when he had fired his weapon preparing to make a rocket propelled charge towards the location he was expecting the Lord to end up. In a flash Vigilius was flying through the air axe first, he made contact with the Necron Overlord which brought both the Necron Overlord and Vigilius crashing the ground. Zephyrinus ran towards the collision to find Sergeant Vigilius coughing next to the decapitated Necron Leader. “Well done brother, I believe we own you our lives today.” Zephyrinus said as he offered to help Vigilius off the ground. Vigilius ignored the gustier and pulled himself up. “Just doing my duty master Zephyrinus.” No sooner had Vigilius got up than the hand of the Necron Lord sprang to life, grabbed Vigulis’s leg crushing the muscles and bones inside. The other arm flailed the demonic weapon threatening to remove the leg outright. Zephyrinus heard as shot from behind him and saw the Necron Lord’s hand explode sending the sword flying and returning the Lord’s body to lifelessness. Zephyrinus turned to see brother Clement, plasma pistol in hand, smiling. “I couldn’t let brother Vigilius be the only one to save our skin today.” The three Space Marines looked around the battlefield. The fighting had ended, hundreds of robotic men lay on the ground with but a dozen fallen Space Marines. Zephyrinus pulled out a strange device, activated it. It surrounded the twisted demonic sword the Necron Lord had carried. “Well men” Zephyrinus said exhaustively while picking up the weapon “what do you say we get off this planet and get some rest?”
