I like when people say timezones offsets are easy, and then you look at their code and they don't handle timezones on a half hour offset, or those that are at 15 or 45 minutes offset.

you can get the timezone of the user from your runtime/user prefs and any timezones related to data from the database and at that point the runtime can calculate the offset from the UTC time source. unless you're doing something retarded like managing the mapping of timezone to offset you'reself

Time zone handling in C++ is balls. Here's a chunky big data system that receives data in one time zone, runs in another, has calendars in a third and receives queries in combinations of the above.
