Are there any bases with a generator built in? I remember seeing a sweet looking boat base in some concept art that was suppose to have one, but I couldn't find it in game :(. So far I have found:

Ascension Church
Kirkman Residence
Savini Residence
McReady's Farmhouse
The Alamo
Snyder Trucking

And I think that's all there is. Making Snyder Trucking the biggest base. Wish there was more, or that you could make any place a base. I would love to have the abandoned factory outside Marshall as a base.

Anyway I stopped playing until the new patch hits. I'm sick of no one standing guard on the tower and letting zombies in and I'm sick of "Too many infestations" from infestations across the map.

There's at least one more, the County Fairgrounds, which is bigger than Snyder Trucking but is way off in the north side of the map, and also can't be accessed until a certain plot event happens

I've been sitting here for 5 mins trying to think of a joke to make but I just realised the animators of Mass Effect already did it for me

I just moved my base into west Marshall and started breaking down my old outposts so I can set up traps along all major avenues near home. I'm going to have the whole neighborhood trapped, possibly something near the bridge into east Marshall and the highway as well.

I like having the expanded storage for food, medicine and supplies, but moving up wiped out my stock of materials and getting things together is going to take some time. Almost lost Lily's brother (Jacob?) and Sam trying to get supplies from a trade because we got caught by a horde.

And my yoga master is missing, so I suppose it's okay that I haven't built a new training area.

Is there any advice or recommendations about who should get what Specializations and Utilities skills and whatnot? Almost everyone I use has maxed Fighting, but things like Wits and Shooting are still low. Do you only get one kind of specialization, or can you get, say, a Fighting Specialization and a Shooting Specialization?

Just have to say that I've already gotten more enjoyment out of this $20 download than I have some $60 full priced games. Technical shortcomings really melt into the background when the gameplay is this compelling - I really appreciate games that offer me real player agency in this day and age where so many games just guide you down scripted corridors.

Is that a glitch, the tower thing? I had snipers in my tower for the first day or so but once Alan went one the medicine mission with no cars allowed with me, I don't think I've seen anybody up in the tower sniping since. It has been a bit worrisome.

Also, what's the deal with traps? I set one, and now I can't set any more at any other base? The trap icon is red, despite having plenty of influence and materials and the trap progress bar being full.

Yeah, that's a bug, if you look at the roster you'll see people who are assigned to stand guard duty and they're supposed to be stationed on the watchtower shooting zeds who get too close to the base. There's currently a glitch where they'll stop doing this after a while, making the watchtower completely useless at the moment. It'll be fixed in the next patch.

Also, using the 'set traps at outpost' command traps all of your outposts at once.

e: So, the end of the Law/Judge Lawton plotline was really loving awful, abrupt, and anticlimactic. You work with them a little bit and then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, the Judge and the Sheriff are instantly killed offscreen and that's the end of it. Someone else posted the same thing happening to them, which indicates that it's scripted, and that's terrible. I'd be fine with it if they could die from a dynamic attack or something, but instead the game just arbitrarily kills them once X amount of game time has passed.

Bahaha, I started a new game and managed to immediately bring all of Damian and his crew to the church immediately, and he's already friendly. Marcus is a heavy weapons and 22 revolver powerhouse and running on meth with packs of construction materials, so I give him a breather and escort Virginia on a trade run. Along the way we pass a billboard that I climb to survey the landscape, and as I'm looking around, Damian remarks, "now there's somewhere we want to visit! "A gun shop? Awesome!" I think.

Nope. It's a trailer park. :crossarms:

I have been vocally critical of this game, but I have to say it's won me over at this point. It really is goddamn fun to play and has a pretty awesome sense of exploration and danger despite it's flaws.

I am still having a lot of trouble with the objectives and the mission system though. It's just obnoxious and stressful getting constantly loving hammered with objectives I can't even figure out how to activate every time I decide to go off on my own for 5 minutes. Like, I still can't figure out what this game wants from me at all. There are always problems I don't know how to fix (people are mad at each other, infestations etc.). I still don't even know how to activate side missions because clicking on them in the menu seems to do nothing. It's very frustrating.

You click on them in the map to have them be the active mission.

They're activated when you find out about them basically though, you can do them or not do them at that point. Story missions never time out but regular ones will eventually. Seems like side missions get you in touch with new survivor groups which can get you new members or supplies or if they're at your base then they'll help you keep morale up or keep people from leaving.

Do they show up on the map if it isn't a main story mission? Also, I never know which ones are time sensitive. There are always missions in that gigantic backlog of stuff to do, but I can't figure out how to activate them. Clicking on them in the mission log does nothing and there is nothing telling me if I have failed a mission or not.

I'd recommend not setting up base at the Farmhouse. It's kind of out of the way, so you can't quickly pop in and out for supplies. That, and it's surrounded by large open fields with little cover that make it really easy for zombies to see you, and swarm the base - which they did constantly for me.

I've got the option to do the endgame now, but I'm not ready, I'm still having fun. I agree that the side quests and storylines just seem to end, for no reason and with little resolution.

Yeah, everything shows up on the map. The only things that are not time limited are scripted missions, everything else expires.

The infestations thing you were talking about is a bug/stupid design decision they're fixing in the next update, right now they get pissed if there are more than a couple houses anywhere on the map.

Oh wait I understand your confusion now. The journal is totally past-tense and non-interactive. Its just a list of things that have happened, who they happened to, and what the result was. If its not on your map its not happening, present-tense.

They do show up. Except for stuff at the base where you need to talk to someone, I think; those you just have to know to go home and check out. Find the location (either a circle or a person symbol) on the map and click it to make it active.

You may not fail them immediately. Lily will radio to say something like "Looks like the opportunity has passed" and you'll see a ":xd: - X" message in the upper right corner.

I have wiped out every infestation I am aware of on the map, and yet Lily is always saying there are too many infestations, blah blah blah and I get the -5 or -10 morale points and then somebody runs away again because running into the middle of the loving town is clearly safer than living out of The Alamo :clint:

Coffee or energy drinks will get them out of the tired state.

I think I've come up against a weird bug, for some reason my home base keeps losing morale and the complaint is 'too many infestations!'.

Funny thing is, there are no infestations. None.

It's a bug.

The game is taking the world infestation level into account, not the local. So there may be like 5 infestations at the opposite end of the map that are causing that complaint.

Its scheduled to be fixed in the upcoming patch.

If you cleared every infestation in the entire map out you need to turn off the game and turn it back on and it will go away. More than likely there are a few somewhere, it counts infestations for the entire map right now. This will be fixed with next patch.

Show us what you got, what you got
Sometimes there will be an infestation at an undiscovered location. One of the construction houses in the first town was infested but since I never discovered it I couldn't see it on the map. Fields can be infested as well and unless you drive through them they're probably "undiscovered".

So holy poo poo Sam is a monster. She's got that "reflexes" trait that lets her get the sweep kick to replace her regular kick, and so far as I can tell that is pretty much an "everyone around you falls down when you push y" with no chance to resist. She can clear out infestations pretty much single handed now, it's ridiculous.

Also, to what extent are the survivors randomized? I know the people at the church are always the same but I've got some dude named Grady who is a good cook, would everyone that runs into a dude named Grady have the exact same guy? Does it pull from a batch of premade survivors and seed the area randomly?

Assuming you don't hate it, this game is kinda crazy value for money, really.

Anyone know if there's an effort among the developers to fix stuff like the stuttering, bad LOD pop ins(this may actually be related to the stuttering) and horrible screen tearing? They're really the only huge bummers for me with this game at the moment. I feel like I should have just waited for the PC version.

I wonder, did some clever hackers out there ever figure out how to get an SSD working as the 360's internal drive? I feel like SoD would benefit from a high speed drive pretty drastically. Just formatting one and plugging it in via USB seems like it'd be pretty restrained by the USB bandwidth.

drat, first time I ever killed a juggernaut without using a car or losing a survivor. That one was pretty interesting since he was wandering the field near the farm and while I saw him eariler, I ignored it since I hated fighting them, until the game gave me a quest to kill it with a alley. At that point it's hard to ignore unless I rather not have that person die.
