drat, first time I ever killed a juggernaut without using a car or losing a survivor. That one was pretty interesting since he was wandering the field near the farm and while I saw him eariler, I ignored it since I hated fighting them, until the game gave me a quest to kill it with a alley. At that point it's hard to ignore unless I rather not have that person die.

I've never been able to actually kill a Juggernaut with a car. He doesn't even fall over unless he's already taken heaps of damage. I have rammed cars in him fast and hard enough for all 4 doors to go careening into the night, the front wheels to pop entirely off, and the engine to catch fire. Still livin'.

I haven't been able to either, but it knocks a lot of his health out that he tends to die to a few bullets or sledge hammer hits. I know it possible since one of the achievements is kill all the special inflected with a car.

I have to say, unless SMGs/ARs come with selective fire there's little reason to use them over pistols. You never really get enough ammunition for it to be capable of rock and roll since you still only have stacks of 30 rounds in your inventory. Plus zombies still only die to headshots.

Side note, getting new larger backpacks? Check all those field/campground areas that pop up. Those are the only places that have them as far as I can tell.

They do have selective fire yeah. I don't know how the pistol/AR skills compare because I don't use guns enough to level up the shooting skill on anyone, but right now I prefer the ARs personally. Auto is really handy for heavies and ferals if you don't have a car.

Best use of guns for me so far though is throwing kitchen timers at hordes and then headshotting everyone at once with a shotgun. :clint:

Yeah I totally hope they go crazy patching this thing. They hinted last week when they went into cert that they had some "super secret plans" for post-release. They were pretty open about wanting to do co-op and survival modes if the game was a hit, too.

I actually prefer to use assault rifles over regular rifles most of the time, because they can be switched to single-shot and tend to have large magazines, so you can just use them like a normal rifle that you have to reload less often, with full-auto there as a panic button in case of ferals or whatever.

Why didn't I use Sam earlier? She's great. May have had something to do with the fact that the first place I ransacked with her was a random house that had a gun in every searchable location, including my first assault rifle.

I've got my base at Snyder, and spent some time setting up outposts at all the roads into that little section of the town there, and I basically have zero problem with survivors on runs getting attacked any more. It's nice to be able to basically fire and forget, if only until I loot the whole place.

So I just started up my game, and between last night and now literally everyone but Marcus got seriously injured because of the infestations and special zombs that popped up in the downtime. Broken legs and cracked ribs EVERYWHERE. :psyduck:

I think I'll just wait for that patch before I start over, this is kinda ridiculous.

In the character screen it tells me to "pick a specialization" and there seems to be some moves under that available, but I can't seem to choose anything. Am I missing something here?

You confirm specializations with X instead of A so you can't mash through the prompt and pick lovely abilities. (Don't pick Rage)

Otherwise if they are grayed out you need certain skills at 7 to unlock them.

stop staring at me

I seem to have trouble keeping enough materials around. I'm always hovering below 10, so I need to go scrounge some up whenever I want to do a new construction project. Also, when establishing outposts it says that they'll eventually run out. Is there any indication of when that happens? And can you tell exactly how much an outpost contributes to your supplies?

So, I think I may have depleted every stockpile of ammo on the map, and I still have a while to go in the story. I can't find any, and I've had Lily ask around about ammo stockpiles three times now with no luck at all - it says she's found some, the journal says to check my map, but there is absolutely nothing on the map.

I watched a horde form last night. There were a bunch of loner zombies on the road in front of me, and they started to congregate together. When they all got next to each other I got the horde spotted message and it popped up on my mini-map. Of course I immediately plowed my pick up truck through them with a *honk* *honk* mother fuckers! Kind of neat little touch I thought.

You probably already know this, but sometimes random houses will have ammo stockpiles.

Also you can get trading mission to give food for ammo. Since food is pretty easy to find and can be grown, it's a good way to get more ammo.

Can I initiate trade missions myself? I know of a survivor enclave nearby whose resource is Ammo, and I'm critically short of ammo but have so loving much food I don't know what to do with it, but I've never once had a trade mission for it. Their Trust is almost maxed out, so it's not a low trust issue. The funny part is that I've had two trade mission offers, but they were both for a different group offering to give me Food (which is my most abundant resource) in exchange for some of my Ammo (my least abundant resource).

Just got wiped out after a fun but frustrating 10+ hours of play and never getting past the church as a base. I was permanently stuck at a population of 2 or 3 because of constant "Too many infestations" causing my idiots to go missing literally seconds after rescuing them. Is there a way to find the infested houses? I was scouring the earth and checking every backroad and cabin but when I would eventually find one and clear it, I'd get a notification moments later that another had popped up(usually on some remote corner of the map).

At the moment it's not. Somebody on the official forum tried to get around this by using terrain to get onto the back of a truck and leaving their rucksack in the truck bed, but that doesn't work either, he left a rucksack floating in the air when he drove off.

Aside from the fact that they can all get pretty good at busting heads (Marcus especially), not really. They don't seem any more important than any other random surivivor.

I've been trying to figure this out, as well. I think you have treat it as a parry move. Like how you have to hit B just right to dodge, I think it's basically a super dodge that will also bash skulls. Not a 100% on this though, since I haven't been able to pull it off either.

I'm still playing as Marcus mostly and have Marcus, Ed and Maya alive (among ~10 others including Jacob & Lily Ritter, Doc and Alan). Jacob has maxed out stats and literally destroys anything in his loving path. The only time I came close to losing him was my first encounter with a feral where he dropped to literally no health and my last round killed the zed.

You don't have to press B just right to dodge, if you press B you enter a 5 second animation and if anything attacks you at any point during then it dodges. Also you can hit B again immediately as it finishes so the only reason to fail a dodge is if you don't have the stamina to do it.

I had a funny feeling in my gut.
I know trucks are much more effective for clearing them, but when you have like six hordes heading to your base and decide to take them on mano et mano it is such ridiculous fun.

Tooling up with all the mines, molotovs, distraction devices and random death toys you've been saving for a rainy day, using trapped outposts and calling in favours from the army and the Wilkerson thugs then going on a brutal street to street campaign and leading the last horde to a massive ruck at your base is so cathartic.

If you play buddy-buddy with the local law, you can even add a SWAT team to the mix by calling in a favor from them.

It would be even better if your watchtower was actually manned like it was supposed to be, so you'd have sniper support for those fights. Can't wait for the patch.

Yeah, hopping on the 'Sam is awesome' bandwagon, the Sweep Kick ability is ridiculously loving useful and when you get her Reflexes skill high enough her Stamina regenerates so fast you don't even need snacks anymore. I specced her in Edged Weapons and she demolishes hordes in hand-to-hand, severed arms and popped heads flying loving everywhere.

Ed also has the Reflexes skill and the ability to get Sweep Kick, so he too has the potential to be an ultimate badass if you keep him alive.
