This game is such a beautiful love letter to zombie fans.

edit: Dying is horrifying. I send a wet behind the ears kid out on a simple scavenging run only to find a shed with about 10 zombies in it. He didn't stand a chance and was tore asunder.

The secret is in the door! :ssh:

I went through four hordes last night with a hatchback, by swinging my door open and swinging past on the right, then backing up and easing just a touch to the right and catching the rest when the door as well.

Yesterday I was playing Maya, I'd just taken her out of the church safehouse to get her combat up a little, but I forgot to load up her gear and ended up with nothing but a machete and some chips. I stopped at a mini mart on the south end of town and was taking out a couple of zombies when I hear a nasty growl and get pounced by a feral. I barely knock him back but the edged weapon is just NOT knocking him back enough and he's swiging faster than I am, and Maya just NOT going to make it and I was pissed because I wanted to turn her into an edged weapons powerhouse. I get up off the ground from incap and with my last splinter of stamina, sprint away from the feral about 20 feet. I make it into a hatchback and the feral's closing fast, I am at a perpendicular and know if I drive forward, he'll latch onto the car and pull meout faster than a fat kid with a tin of sardines.

So I back up, and swing open the car door.

The feral dodges sideways into the door, I knock him down, then stop, hit the gas and plowed forward, swinging my door open a second time just as he's getting to his feet again. Splat!

About 2 gigs. Download size is 1.8. So you need enough for both.

So you can keep two save files by switching between storage devices in the settings menu. That said however, if you overwrite a save don't hit "Continue" accidentally at the main menu, it'll crash your console. :D

Also for the people asking where to find stuff at the starting campground, I'm almost certain that if you explore every location available in the beginning of the game you will find a gun and at least one decent melee weapon, along with a large backpack (or two,) every time you start the game. But if you just want to find stuff quickly, then go left and search all four tents before going inside the station, you'll almost always find the gun and pack in the tents.

My favorite beginner weapon is the .22 revolver. :glomp:

And yet the first time I did one of those, also not putting it off at all because I was playing the demo, I found the group annihilated. It may just be a thing that happens sometimes, depending on their own level of preparedness. Many of them are just in a house, after all, and it's pretty easy for something nasty to just smash down the door.

The only time in my main game that someone has stayed dead (where I could see it, anyway) was when I was escorting a survivor named Joselyn Rodriguez. We were cutting through the woods back to her place after raiding a campground and came upon a screamer. I felt safe in executing it, so I put a bullet in its head. Oh boy was that a mistake. Enough regular zombies came by that fighting them attracted a horde, and if I hadn't left her to die I would have died myself. Pro-tip: Always pack snacks for emergency sprinting.

I love this game, and glad it's doing we'll for the devs. Very rough around the edges, but drat the middle is so sweet and juicy. Sending people out to scavenge for supplies is ridiculously satisfying. Hope they do add in some kind of endless mode, would be cool to have a "how long can you survive?" mode.

Such a happy surprise, I hadn't even heard of if it until last week. 5 minutes of the demo and I knew I'd be spending money. No regrets.

Sometimes the magnifying glass highlights two or three possible locations, and they can be quite far away from each other. Try selecting it again and zooming right out.

Ferals are by far the worst zombie type to fight. I don't mind the big fat ones so much, they're easy to avoid and they attack slow so you have lots of time to run away if it's going bad.

The heavy weapon sweep move is so drat good. I gave it to one of the girls that joined with Juan (think they are pre-generated) along with the ability to suplex zombies. Now she turned into Frank West, just killing zombie hordes in about three attacks, as the sweep cuts them in half and anyone left just gets suplex and ripped in half. :black101:

Seriously! They killed so many of my guys when I was still at the church. Only other death was a soldier named Grace who blew herself up with a grenade when being mobbed by zombies. Kinda weird though, other survivors have been mobbed for way longer than she was without dying/suiciding. Maybe she was injured already though. I've started getting hit with the too many infestations/constantly disappearing survivors bug now so I might stop until that patch comes out.

Exactly this. Screamers are basically harmless and satisfying to head shot, armoured zombies are as melee-able as anything else, bloaters are satisfying kills with an easy body shot, big un's are tough to kill for sure but yeah they can be dodged and you can always back off and control the fight.

Ferals are bloody terrifying though when you aren't expecting them.

Yeah, every single one of my three deaths so far (Ed, along with two randomly-generated survivors named Sabrina and Martin) have been due to surprise attacks from ferals. They're the worst because if they grab you, you don't get the press-A-to-not-die extra life quicktime prompt. If a feral grabs you and your current health drops to zero, you just die instantly.

It's piss easy to download. Just create an American Xbox account, that's it. You'll get access to their poo poo to download. The demo gives you about an hour to play around with. It's the full game experience just on a time-limit and no saving.
It's a little bit more effort to purchase it, I'll post up how I did it if you want to know.

If you guys are having trouble killing Ferals, they're real easy to knock down, when they're charging at you and about to pounce all you have to do is press turbo + A to do a flying double kick. If you do it just right as he's tries to pounce on you you'll send him flying, and if you're quick enough you'll be able to bash his brains before he get's up.

Unless I'm getting names mixed up that's what I did, and you can build a shooting tower fine. Also, since it's to the west of a neighborhood, you can put outposts through out the neighborhood that create an impassable gauntlet of traps, so you never have to worry about hordes reaching the base.

It does but mine has never seen action. I just put up four outposts in the closest buildings. Then set up traps and nothing has ever gotten in.

You do get random zombies that scale the barbed-wire fence no problem coming in at Snyder but it hasn't been an issue for me yet. I put up a few outposts too and while people still go missing they're usually in the single-room minimart or gas station next to it which are pretty easy to clear. There's an ammo store and a factory pretty close which make good outposts for the resource regen and also serve as frontline horde-killers.

Ed had the 'spiteful' trait and had a thing for beating every woman in the camp. So after sending Sam to the infirmary with a broken arm I decided I had enough of his poo poo and he needed to go.

He got 2 painkillers, 2 coffees, a snack, and whatever weapons he found. He would scavenge as much as he could (individually, he was not allowed to call on other survivors) clear as many infestations as he could, and would generally try to be a much nicer person.

Now that he's thrown himself into the jaws of encroaching zombie hordes about six times he has a bunch of maxed out stats and he's gained the 'determined' trait and doesn't mess around with anybody. I still want him to die for messing with Sam though :argh:

Man, I just barely scraped through an encounter by the skin of my teeth. So, uh, how does healing work when the game is off, provided you exited inside of an allied base (not yours)? :staredog: I did a mission to get Doc...:

I went through the whole Wilkerson thing where you board up the windows of their hillbilly home and get swamped by zeds. So far, I'd just been wandering around with a single silenced handgun, no extra ammo (it's a spare slot, and 15 rounds is usually plenty, since I melee most of the time), and this time, a shotgun loaded with seven shells.

THANK GOD FOR THE SHOTGUN HOLY CHRIST. Two or three big fatty-fat-fat hillbillies came up, and I'd never dealt with them before. I ran out of molotavs, ran out of ammo just as I killed the first one/two, and decided I had about 1/4 health and didn't want to risk melee'ing a big guy for the first time on those terms. I ran down the driveway, grabbed the car I came in, and rammed that fucker full speed. OH BUT HE LIVED. AND DESTROYED BOTH OF MY TIRES ON THE FRONT :stonk: Ran further, grabbed a cab that was sitting there, and did the same thing with the same results. His head exploded once he stood up. Oh god.

But, uh, I'm in a tight spot, see? I'm in the middle of the boonies, no healing supplies, under 25% health, and NO CAR. Unless it warps you back home, I'm hoping that logging out/closing the game anywhere will heal you. Is this correct? :ohdear: Marcus is pretty rad, and I'm getting attached to the guy!
