Apparently it's Father's Day Weekend, not that I would know or care. Let's check the old Facebook. Red is someone I've been friends with for over a decade, pink is a friend of hers, black is her mother, and she's in a domestic partnership with blue.

It's still going, only now she's fighting with one of her nieces. It's amazing, I'm stuck indoors in the rain on vacation and having the time of my life watching this incredible meltdown that's 3 hours long now.

Ugh...this was not a pleasant evening. One of my Facebook friends, a woman that I was in the Navy with a long time ago (FB User #2), decided to post a rather inappropriate photo of her daughter to her newsfeed. Her daughter was sitting on a toilet wearing a half-shirt pink fuzzy thing and (possibly) some underwear. Her fingers were held to her lips as if mimicking smoking a cigarette. I {FB User #1) voiced my concern over the photo, as did another of her friends. She went on deflecting the arguments until I had had enough and reported the photo. I immediately got a notification that she had taken it down herself. Everything would have been fine if it was left at that, but then this pile of poo poo came: She's the one that liked my last post there. I don't think this one's going to stick around much longer, either one way or another. e: whoops, just noticed I let her first name slide. Oh, well. nippythefish has a new favorite as of 02:13 on Jun 16, 2013 |

I recently burnt through all of TNG and about half of DS9 in about 3 weeks while I was unemployed. Having all the time in the world with no money to do stuff really makes the episodes fly by. Plus I have a dual monitor set up, so I'd be gaming or browsing the internet while the show plays on the other screen.

Soviet Commubot posted:I looked up and apparently the entire pledge was said in Arabic, not that it should matter. That people think "Allah" is the proper name of the Muslim god is about the only thing that makes me all " heh, monolinguals". I had a really long "argument" with a buddy back in the States a few years back, he was convinced that the word "God" was the proper name of the Christian god, and "Allah" was the proper name of the Muslim god. When I asked him what religion the French were when they prayed to "Dieu" he thought I was bullshitting him and still wasn't convinced when I showed him in an online dictionary. As far as I'm aware he's still convinced of this. It would probably blow his mind if he realized Jesus spoke primarily Aramaic and not English, and as a result used a word that probably sounded a fair bit like Allah instead of "god".

You just told the mother that she posted cp of her own daughter, that her friends were most likely jerking off to the pic, and victim blamed her for something she isn't even a victim of. Did you never have your mother show off pics to potential girlfriends (boyfriends maybe, whatever) of you as a child. When they got to the bath pics did you run screaming into the room "CP CP! What is wrong with you." You should have just mentioned that she should have set the pics to private or something, not that a pic of her daughter could be used as jerking material.

You just told the mother that she posted cp of her own daughter, that her friends were most likely jerking off to the pic, and victim blamed her for something she isn't even a victim of. Hello there, devil's advocate. I like how you blew your points out of proportion to make me look like a bad guy. I never said she posted "cp", I said the photo was questionable and that she should consider it taking it down. I never said "her friends are most likely jerking off to the pic", I said that the internet is not a haven of security and that once a picture is out on the internet, it's almost impossible to take it down once it spreads. Through my own experiences with Facebook, it's obvious that people tend to friend people that they don't actually know all that well. All it takes is one pedo to see the photo and swipe it. Once it enters one collection, it's bound to enter the collections of many others (since they like to collaborate online to disseminate their illegal content). As for your 'victim blamed' statement, that makes absolutely no sense to me. The victim is the daughter, and she's a victim of her mother's careless posting. I addressed the posting of the photo due to the potential for disaster, not because I assumed disaster was likely already happening. As for her deletion of me, whatever. Considering my opinion of her dropped to zero the moment she decided her "fun" was more important than her own daughter's privacy, I don't consider it a loss.

There's a big difference between showing off pictures from a photo album in your living room and posting them publicly on Facebook for everyone to see/download their own copy/whatever. I think that's more the part he's taking issue with than nudity by itself.

I love when someone uses the argument that we're prejudiced against men because almost all prison inmates are male, since they'll invariably also point to crime statistics as proof that blacks and Latinos are genetically predisposed towards violence.
