Yeah this is easily the weakest of the live shows, unfortunately. That stuff was really throwing them off.

Feminism is a socialist, anti-family, political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.
So did Jonathan really need to leave early? That's pretty weak planning, even for him, to potentially need to dip on your own live prayercast.

Best part about the live show was the truth behind Johnathan no longer giving out the 323-481-4422 number: he got behind on his payment, so Sprint(?) sent his account to collections and he lost the number :laffo: Poor guy.

VV I'd never heard it until the latest episode :frogbon:

Uhh, no dogg. I thought that bit was pretty obviously a joke? I mean he didn't even get out of the theater and into the lobby for the post show meet and greet for like 20 minutes.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty obvious it was a joke too, but it sounded like a lot of the room thought he was being serious.

I think it was in response to Jonathan's assertion that he has definitely purchased a cannoli on more than one occasion.

Like I said, other than pretty much that one dude I thought the crowd was fine and the show was on point. I drove 2000 miles round trip for the show and I feel like it was definitely worth my time and money. Anyone notice Seth seemingly on the verge of tears when he was saying his goodbye at the end of the show?

There were a couple moments I thought the room turned - or some air got sucked out of the room.

-Jah saying he had to leave early
-Jah saying "fruit"

I think those were mis-calc'ed for the room... In retrospect. In LA I think those jokes would have played out better as post-modern. Maybe Jah needed to be humbled a bit?

Going meta for My evolving theory: For some reason I feel Denver carries a bit of the 'precious' P.C. vibe I get especially in Boulder. Is it a Colorado thing?

Not much irony... People seem kind of -- serious. Just my observation on the Colorado Steeze as I've spent time there, Seattle, the Bay Area and LA.

There is a sorta conformity, even in the edginess. This is subtle stuff, don't get me wrong.... I'm talking about a sorta blurred over averaging.

Back to our heroes. I just want to observe that Seth attracts dudes in flannel -- and Jah has inspired dudes hairstyles to go mono ponytail.

Have you ever gone to a show and everyone sorta looks like the dudes in the band you are seeing? Look, I ain't hating. I don't blame anyone. It's hard NOT to emulate them, when CLEARLY they are the Velvet Underground of podcasting, and their Factory just keeps kicking out aural gold. And I mean that in all sincerity. gently caress the lovely crowds, keep it coming.

Peace out.

You have to be really on point with that sort of humour. Even so you would have thought that people that went to the show would be fans (or maybe some of them weren't).

They did NOT get the "I have to leave early" joke. It was a weird crowd - I think a lot of them (most notably the people who felt compelled to yell) didn't heed Jonathan's warning about altitude sickness and heavy pregaming being a bad mix.

Y'all are making me not want to listen to the recording. Walking out I felt like it was an unmatchable UYD experience, even with the hecklers and whatnot. I sure didn't feel like the crowd turned on them or anything, I guess I was just oblivious. Maybe I'll just wait a couple months, or leave it unplayed forever.

The weird crowd doesn't surprise me. One glance at the UYD forums (or even this thread sometimes) will show you that this show attracts some pretty weird motherfuckers. Good lesson to learn that you can't choose your fans.

Haha, yeah. One guy in particular who was walking around before the show was such a dead ringer I had to do a doubletake, thinking it was Jonathan. I overheard him and his friends laughing with Jonathan about the resemblance after the show. It must have felt like they were on Orphan Black.

Like I said earlier, this type of humour is very hard to pull off. You need to be laser accurate and witty.
