Not X-rated podcasts, but interviews, news about the sex industry, etc. I found "The Morning After" but that shut down last year. And googling for "porn podcast" doesn't return much useful.

I love stuff like that. This American Life. Most episodes are 3 or 4 life stories connected by a given theme for the episode. And often there are fictional short stories read out.

Technically, DVDASA isn't about porn, but one of the co-hosts is a porn star, another is a former porn editor, and they've had a few porn stars as guests. I made a thread about it here. My question: Aside from This American Life, what are some good podcasts that update on saturdays or sundays? I always find myself having nothing to listen to on the weekends.

gently caress. So I have noscript on Firefox and for the last few days, I've been able to save Spill.com podcasts on my computer by clicking on the download link and right clicking the noscript blocked page and selecting "save download link". I accidentally clicked the page and now the download goes straight to Quicktime which doesn't allow me to save podcasts on my computer. I've tried to mess around with program defaults and even disbled Quicktime, but it didn't work. Anybody have any advice?

Anyone who is interested in TV writing should check out Writers Bloc with JR Halvin. The host is a Daily Show scribe so about half the guests so far are from there. But there's also some great interviews with Phil Rosenthal, Mike Reiss, Mike Scully, Neal Brennan, and Sarah Silverman too.

For anyone who liked The History of Rome, another podcaster (Robin Pierson) decided to pick up where that left off and do The History of Byzantium. It's not identical to THoR, it is done by a different guy, but Pierson intends it as a successor and has consciously modeled it after THoR. It's about 30 episodes in, and so far it's pretty good. The main complaint I have is that Pierson's British accent is too relaxing and I find myself drifting in and out of paying attention. Anyway, if you're looking for a history podcast it's worth taking a listen.

I really wish Doug Stanhope would do more podcasts. As in, I wish he would appear on more podcasts, and I wish he would conduct more podcasts. Last I checked he'd recorded 4. Question for you podcasting veterans: Last month, I started my own podcast. I have 3 episodes out, working on a fourth, and I'm ready to look at getting them hosted on iTunes in addition to my soundcloud. Each episode has four or five special segments that I introduce with a 3-4 second clip of bumper music. Does that fall under Fair Use or will iTunes/etc flag me for copyright infringement? I'm looking for a short-format audio podcast about space. I tried the "Scientific American: 60-Second Space" cast, but the guy talked too fast. I'm looking for something that is soothing, or expresses wonderment, with less hyped up fast talking. Like, if Carl Sagan had a podcast.

I love stuff like that. Getting it on with James Urbaniak a "fictional podcast" done by character actor/voice actor James Urbaniak. Written by various people but all done by Urbaniak they can be (but aren't always) semi-autobiographical, they're all interesting though. Short format, running 15-20 minutes running the gamut from funny to sad, including one that's just absolutely crushing.

Has Feedly been acting up a little bit for anyone else lately? I've tried downloading a couple NPR podcasts lately (Planet Money a couple days ago, TAL tonight) and my laptop has hard-locked when doing so. Downloading them directly from their respective websites didn't give me any issues.

In terms of American politics podcasts that I could actually stomach (as in not overtly biased), it seems that all of them will soon be gone. I used to listen to the CNN one with Lisa Desjardins until it stopped about 2 years ago (?). I listened to Talk of the Nation. And I listened, for the last 6 years to It's All Politics which will cease after next week. So, with all the suggestions on here what should I be going for if I am wanting the blandish public broadcasting portrayal of American politics without having to rely on The Guardian or something inappropriate like that?

Someone in here recommended Wormwood, a full cast radio-style drama with some cool lovecraftian themes and great characters. I really enjoyed it, but they concluded the series years ago, and I raced through it. Does anyone have any recommendations for similar, serial drama or mysteries? Maybe even something with a hard-boilded detective?

Also The Leviathan Chronicles is very well made and kinda neat to listen to, but also kinda generic sci-fi with enough redeeming qualities so it isn't terrible. Wormwood was a rather singular experience, sadly.

Basically old guy gets paid to watch a lighthouse and then immediately gets involved with a Conspiracy. Quite well done, though the main characters voice will take some getting used to. Quality in radio drama is a strange thing to think about, because a lovely or mediocre story with really good production values might be considered Quality, or the inverse; a really good story with lovely production. My rule of thumb is to avoid anything that's about zombies or fan-fiction. I won't listen to stuff unless it immediately looks interesting, has won a lot of awards, or gets suggested to me. I haven't ever used the iTunes Top Chart list, so that might be a good place to look? Also, I swear I am not shilling, Welcome to Night Vale is also excellent. Finally, I started listening to Radio Drama Revival, and while I haven't found anything he's talked about to be really worth listening to, there's always a chance something will come down the line.

This question might be a little odd, but: I've never owned an MP3 player and I'm looking to buy one and use it mostly for podcasts. Is there any particular feature or model I should be searching for, or will any modern player work well with podcasts? I'm worried about stuff like it remembering where I stopped listening, being able to sort my podcasts, seeing which ones I've already listened to, etc.

Maybe I should have mentioned it but I really don't want to use my phone for this, it just feels clunky. That's why I'm looking for a dedicated music player. But I'll try those app options if I give up on the idea.

I havent used Stitcher so I cant compare. Downcast seems to have good streaming for me and my sub-par internet, however the "playlist" function is quite confusing for me. You seem to have to build filters to create a playlist (like a smart playlist) rather than be able to put individual podcasts into a list. But being able to mark for streaming, and streaming is good for obvious reasons if you only have 8 gigs on your iDevice

I've become addicted to BBC's Global News podcast. Are there any good ones with a similar format that are a little more USA-centric? I'm not particularly political so anything that swings particularly left, right or stupid (I'm looking at you CNN) isn't really welcome.
