OK, that is literally the best news I've read about EU4 to date. Nothing annoys me more than a strategy game that compensates for AI deficiencies by providing the AI with statistical/mechanical buffs (well, our tactical AI is terrible, so pow, the AI can withstand 25% more damage than you can and all their units do 25% more damage than you do -- enjoy!)

Though, to be fair, AI is like, the ultimate hard problem right now.

Agreed. It's why I prefer to play on normal difficulty in games that have that sort of poo poo, and then cheat the AI resources and stuff like that for when I want them to give me a bit more of a challenge.

EvW was always going to be a huge pile of poo poo. They're making a Cold War grand strategy that's focused on military conflict.
Surely hardly anybody here was going to buy it. At this point I'm just enjoying We Are The World as the :psyduck: icing on the poo poo cake, and it is beautiful. This atrocious fanfiction is going into an actual game. It's glorious.

You give them an airbase/carrier to operate from and they have a range and can fly over the sea (which Vicky 2 aircraft cannot). Airbases are province improvements like railroads, as is AA.

You really are a louse...
Also they can do missions like air superiority or escort while in V2 they just get tacked onto a unit just like cavalry. While it wouldn't be perfect, making helicopters work like airplanes do now in V2, adding in missiles, jets, and carriers like in HoI, the factions from HoI (so like NATO, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and maybe a third fascist one instead of Allies, Comintern, and Axis) and changing around some politics (replace all anarcho-liberals with green or proper anarchist parties, add secessionist parties and relevant generic peaceful secession events, etc) would basically give you a game that can kinda run from 1836-1991. It would have to simplify a lot and World War 2 would basically be "a LOT of stacks smashing into eachother for a long time!" but I can see it.

Can't be that hard to make a new batch though, can it? Make some nice and crisp bacon, put it in a giant pot full of vodka, and let the whole thing sit there. At some point, filter out the bacon (or not, could be like those snake whiskeys), and put it back into the original bottles. The only outright terrible entry I've seen in the second round of We Are The World so far is this one in the Afghanistan thread:

quote:

The obvious one:

Name: Osama bin Laden
Ideology: Fascist
Trait: Zealous
Start Date: 1984.1.1
Death Date: end date

while Osama bin Laden was active on many fronts he was extremely active in Afghanistan during the 80s. Suitable as a religious fascist but perhaps not the first one in the list.

And to be fair, it's terrible enough to get called out even over there. Not a lot of selfies this time around, it's mostly crowdsourced research and developers going "We can't use that image". There's also this exchange between a regular poster and a dev:

quote:

quote:

I'm serious, this overaubance of paternal autocrats in third world countries is giving me a head ace. I'm starting to worry you guys are simply going to represent complex political events by railroading transfers of power using death dates, with every single historical leader belonging to the same party.
Feel free to suggest a different setup, how ever extensive it may be. Don't be afraid to try, I assure you our team will consider them carefully and chances are it can be added into the game if the setup is deemed to fit better then our original setup. Thank you for your feedback and best regards!

Osma bin Laden reminds me of something, does the game has a mechanic to simulate the different ideological faction in different countries or the ability of foreign powers to supply these faction to change the political alliance of these countries?

I don't think nuclear weapons should be actual weapons in the game. The arms race could be handled by modifiers and flags and such. Treating nuclear weapons as units to actually be deployed is just fantasy.
