Hey if Caberham can do it... Okay let's try this again. Did anyone actually get the Nexus 4? All the reviews say the reviewer can't use up the battery in a day, even with heavy use. I don't know what they mean by heavy use though.

I'm visiting Seoul for a few days from Busan. What are some cheap foods that someone has to eat in Seoul?

Thread is creepy. As a PSA, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, massive baller, is in Seoul this weekend and giving talks with free admission. I'll be at one or several.

Here's a bit of a silly question. I've lately gotten the hugest craving for some PnP games, are there any PnP groups in Seoul that people know about? I used to play DnD a lot back in 3e, but would really be open to anything as long as it's not too crazy.

The secret to playing sports with elementary school kids is to treat every second like the last out of the world series. If you dive and catch a ball to get a fourth grader out he pouts. If you dog it your team complains. If you dive and catch the ball, they wave your arms and whoop like a madman everyone is happy. Call me guru.

I have to ask how much they're paying you for this. After all, that's why people take non-public jobs, right? For the money?

You, you are the enemy of Korean Captain Planet. I of course turn it off when I leave. Keeping it at 23 would help all the things I'm fermenting, but I'm scared of how much that costs.

Biggest single weirdo thing you can do to cut consumption (other than not running the AC 24/7) is to use switches to cut power to devices when they're turned off, or just unplug them/hit the breaker. poo poo that's turned off but still plugged in sucks up a ton of power in aggregate. If you cut its breaker, put a switch between or physically remove the plugs you'll be shocked by how much power consumption goes down. This goes for air conditioning units when you're not around, water heater pumps and so on.

Anyone want a food waste dehydrator? Going to try composting instead. The idea behind it is to just put your wet food waste in and it dries it out so you don't have to constantly run downstairs to throw away your waste or risk getting fruit flies.

How would you guys describe the phenomenon of "yellow fever"? Its presentation, causes, etc.
|
# ? Aug 1, 2013 15:47 |
|
It's transmitted by mosquito. It starts with a fever, then you start to vomit blood, and then bloody chunks (the chunks are stomach lining), and then you die.

This was a part of what started this conversation, and a group of creepy white guys from Busan. Then she said "I think some foreigners just want to date any Korean women, it doesnt matter who they are as long as they're Korean." So we got talking more about it, and she asked me why some white guys are like that with Asian women and not like, Russian women or something. I didn't have a good answer besides "cuz theyre weird and probably something to do with Japan."
|
# ? Aug 2, 2013 06:12 |

Probably not the best way to phrase that in a thread full of white dudes dating/marrried to korean (or chinese) women
|
# ? Aug 2, 2013 06:36 |

I would hope those white dudes arent dating/married to those Korean women just because they're Korean. I'm still dating that girl so, it's not like I'm not in this situation (shes who this conversation was with.) I asked here because a lot of the people here seem to be very aware of things like this, it's the difference between this thread and the Korean drama and kpop thread.

Well, you'll need to explain: preference, fetishism, and confirmation bias.

Racial fetishization is just A Thing, I guess. I would pin a lot of it on cultural exportation on both sides. White guys get a lot of weird ideas about Asian girls from porn, movies, video games, etc. etc. etc. and Asian girls get a lot of weird ideas about white guys from movies, celebrities, whatever. A bunch of Asian girls over-value white guys and a bunch of white guys think of Asian girls as demure sex dolls or who knows. I imagine both of those sorts of people are disabused of this notion soon after they start actually dating, but everyone is terrible everywhere so probably not. Thinking about it I don't think I've ever met anyone who was like "Cambodian girls, bro!" so yeah maybe it is all kpop videos and schoolgirl anime AmbientParadox posted:camp hell You're in Cheonan, right?
