I remember reading something about how Bioware would have women sit in on the story planning of games because they would point out when something was bad. Clearly they were not invited to any of EDI's storyboarding. Because I'm pretty sure the reaction would have been :stonklol:

I know, I like EDI as a character and her voice was really well done as a machine that's advanced in human language but her tits... I really think they're the biggest of any ME character. Maybe they could have taken a LOKI mech and put her in there, those didn't have ridiculous tits and fake high heels right? Actually the one thing about the sexbot I liked was the haircut. So let's just put that haircut on a LOKI or a FENRIS and then EDI can be totally mombot or momdog.

Just recently beat Citadel for the first time (as the conclusion to my second trilogy playthrough) and man, for everything Bioware messed up, they have an incredible knack for writing characters. Gonna' legitimately miss this universe.

Are there any other games that have the whole "memorable ensemble cast" thing going on the way Mass Effect does? I've played the Metal Gear and Uncharted series a bunch (hell, I know Metal Gear like the back of my hand) and those are the only two series I can think of that are comparable in that regard.

Xenoblade Chronicles is, in my mind, right up there with Mass Effect in this regard.

Does anyone know why the fuel mechanic exists in ME3? I've never once needed to refuel, and if I did, I'd just hit the Citadel. Why didn't they just remove the fuel drops and the mechanic entirely? Then again everything about scanning is kind of annoying.

You did a super job wrapping things up! And I'm not just saying that because I have to!
It kind of worked as a callback to the fuel mechanic in ME2; where before you'd hit up a fuel station, now you can see the remains of fuel stations that the Reapers have destroyed because everything is hosed up and apocalyptic now

I just realized that by doing Leviathan before I'd picked up all of my crew members I deprived myself of some dialog. Boo. Leviathan itself was pretty amazing, though. The creaking of the metal when you're underwater really put me on edge. Leviathan itself cycling through its thralls was neat. All in all a great piece of DLC; glad I bought it.

Which is why I just save edit at this point for both cosmetic and paragon/renegade requirements. I can have scarring and poo poo that actually makes it look like Shep died once before and was put back together, and I can also be a non-dick at the same time! Kaidan actually moves around the ship and talks to people instead of passing out drunk and staying in his room. He's also a much more versatile squadmate.

As a squadmate, he's solid. But he's still a whiny bitch, though I think that's more the VA than his writing...or both. I'm not even sure. All I know is he's a poster child for "sensitive white guy." Also, the "moves" he puts on male shepard are almost uncomfortable to watch. I was romancing Liara all through the series, then him and I have some bro-times in the Citadel café, and next thing I know, he puts his hands on Shep's hands, looks him in the eyes, and wants to be more than brothers.

I guess my post means, in a nutshell, his character development is that he becomes bi-sexual, and gives no fucks about who you're romancing.

You must not have had your citadel date with Liara before going to Kaidan's. If you confirm your relationship with any npc then the topic doesn't even come up when you interact with the others. The mental distress you suffered from a male npc coming on to your character in the same way you had your character come on to lady npcs must have been terrible. Also, if you consider him a "sensitive white guy" you probably thought Cortez was just a big baby crying over his dead husband too, didn't you? :allears:

Quick gameplay question: The squad ammo powers. If you take the upgrade that gives other squadmates the ammo bonus at a reduced effectiveness, does it overwrite their own ammo power? I've never tried it in ME3 because I remember using it in ME2 just left squaddies fighting the effect and trying to put up their power while mine was overwriting theirs.

Meh. I thought Cortez was one of the best written "gay dudes" in any video game i've played, certainly the best from Bioware. You're probably right that I didn't do Liara's date first, but this was a playthrough straight from ME1, and I never deviated. I shouldn't have to game internal flags to force NPCs to act consistent with me. I'm not complaining that Kaidan is now suddenly gay, though that's it's own problem, i'm complaining that it comes out of nowhere for a male Shepard. And yea, he is a sensitive white guy. Cortez is more hardcore than Kaidan will ever be.
