Old Town Road to EGOT

Does anyone know if they're going to upload QotSA's set in full to YouTube, at least temporarily? When YouTube broadcast Coachella, they did that for some bands: you could re-watch previous days' acts for a short amount of time before they got taken down.

I tried to watch it earlier but the stream kept going out on me :smith: Fortunately it was perfectly fine for all of NIN's set, who I really wanted to see the most.

Just grabbed a couple tickets for the Red Rocks show next week. It'll be my first time seeing them, and I am ridiculously excited.

Saw them at the Broken Spoke outside of Sturgis.

A thunderstorm rolled through during the show, and i'm not sure how everywhere there didn't die from the lightning, but god drat if it didn't make for an amazing show, with the extra lights :buddy:

And then it started pouring rain halfway through the last song and into the encore, and it was just the most amazing thing. :iia:

I was at this same show right down front on the right side, I agree it kicked rear end. Even got to see the band about 12-1 in the morning out front of the casino.

That looks a little far back for a photo pass, what camera did you use? I should pick up an S100 or something for taking into shows, my camera phone just isn't cutting it.

Not my pic, just one the venue posted on their facebook. I think the photog that they hired retreated back to the bar or the sound booth when the rain started instead of hanging out in the pit (which was probably extra messy with the runoff from the stage roof).

e. Although I will say the place I was at (the Broken Spoke) had basically no camera policy, there were people with some pretty serious camera kit allowed in even without a pass. Very laid back venue.

I thought we were gonna get rained on in Omaha too, but it was probably the nicest weather we've ever seen for a show at Stir Cove. They put on a fantastic show too, probably the best of the five times I've seen them. Smooth Sailing and I Appear Missing were highlights for me. Plus, it's really hard to beat a venue with an attached hotel/casino. Half the time you can end up partying with the band on the casino floor later in the night too. (missed them this time around sadly)

Stir Cove has a no removable lenses policy, and they have been pretty strict about it the few times I've tried to get one past.

HNNNNNGG!!
Just got back from the Calgary show. It was alright. The only song they didn't play from the new album was the title track, so it was a bit top-heavy in that regard, but In The Fade and Better Living were kickass. I couldn't stay out of the pit as soon as Sick Sick Sick started but ended up getting the wind knocked out of me during Feel Good Hit (go figure). All in all it wasn't the best QotSA show I've ever been to, felt more like going through the motions. There were no songs leading into other songs, no extended jams or breakdowns (except for a pretty sweet Jon Theodore drum solo), no witty banter and minimal crowd interaction, but the crowd was actually really loving good this time around. Lots of crowdsurfing but everyone was there to have a good time, it wasn't anywhere near the level of bullshit violence as say a Clutch or Turbonegro show, or even the last few times I've seen Queens for that matter. This was either my 6th or 7th time seeing them live (lost track) and the only thing that would surprise me at this point is hearing them play something like Sky Is Falling.

I also stumbled onto Hutch's sound rig in the middle of the set and saw that he had one screen devoted to a Pro Tools session recording the whole show themselves. I asked him about it afterward and he told me they record every show they play for posterity, and hinted that there *might* be some sort of upcoming live compilation CD with the best performances of the tour. Hutch is the most rad dude. If you see him at a show, go talk to him. Nicest guy.

I was at the Calgary show too, I enjoyed the set but REALLY enjoyed the crowd. One of the best crowds Calgary has put out in.. ever?? The pit was a ton of fun, and super friendly. No elbows or fists, just a whole bunch of people throwing down to good music. Saw them in Paris a few weeks ago and honestly got my rear end kicked by all the Parisians jockeying for position in the crowd at every surge, it was lame and unnecessarily rough (though the band and venue were fantastic that night). This show kicked rear end, if only we had a venue with decent sound AND a bunch of standing room!

Still no Australian dates announced, so I'm still just gonna post QOTSA videos.

You might've already seen it, but check out this full concert from 1998! It's raw and awesome. This is from a month before they even released their first album. I'd say Avon is my favourite from this performance. Also funny is how uninterested most of the crowd is. They don't even loving know.

Well, considering we only just know the headliners for the big festivals in January, and they're coming after that it's not surprising. In fact I'm not sure if they're coming out in Autumn/Winter in which case we won't hear for months.

My memory is fuzzy, but I want to say it was either 98 or 99 when I saw them open up for Ween. Josh and Nick came out on stage with Ween later on in the show, and Nick was completely naked. Dude has a huge dong, in case you were wondering.

Anyone seeing them at the Roundhouse in London next Friday? Me and my girlfriend both entered to win tickets through iTunes but only she won them. I then entered that dodgy sounding competition where you had to email a Gmail address on their Facebook page and won too.

The part in the second half of I Appear Missing where you expect the guitar to go one way but it just starts wailing gets me every time.

I think it will be longer than 20 minutes. NIN is playing right now and there's a band after NIN before QOTSA comes on.
