Think about how often in life the people who "should die" live forever.

Dizzy probably would have survived if Rico hadn't yanked that claw out of her and sped up the bleeding process. They do have medics, unless they only use them in boot camp.

Nope, remember perfect chin was in the totally-not-Star Wars healing tank when Dizz and TEEEEETH told him he was "dead".

If he hadn't pulled the pincher thing she could have probably sci-fi healed.

Honestly I wish the movie followed the big tooth fiddle playing sidekick instead. What's his story? Why did he join the army? Where did he learn how to play the fiddle? Why, at the end, is he still a private?

Yup.

I'm kinda sad they didn't have a post-show song like they did with Manos (I though the song was funny, not the music video involving scenes from the Manos sequel ) - I tweeted the guys this song about a week before the show (spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen Starship Troopers, I guess?):

I'm actually reminded of a quote from Michael Keaton when everyone was making GBS threads on him for getting cast as Batman: "Wouldn't you want the guy you'd least suspect as Batman...playing Batman?" in reference to nobody thinking Bruce Wayne could be the Dark Knight.

One can hardly ignore the Taoist implications of "Fuck it, Dude. Let's go bowling."

I like the Rifftrax crew and all, but I just don't know about riffing on Night of the Living Dead. For one thing, it's a legitimately great movie; you could easily riff on the first act, but after that, it gradually becomes more and more intense and horrifying. And how in the hell are they going to find comedy in that gutpunch of an ending?

I dunno. Maybe it's just my love for the movie, but Night is such a great horror movie that riffing on it seems like a bad choice.

REDHEADS WILL BE MY DOWNFALL!
While it's not an absolute rule, I think that the best Riffs are not a function of how bad a film is, but how seriously it takes itself. The Avengers give a sense of the challenge when the guys admit that that have to be able to give more and better jokes about a given situation than Robert Downey Jr. or the whole enterprise falls apart.

NOTLD, Jurassic Park, Casablanca, The Dark Knight, Inception, and Casino Royale are all arguably good movies, and the riffs are all excellent. Especially JP.

The only movie I've never finished the riff for is Jaws, because I just get way too into the movie and switch them off.

BTW, they've also riffed Carnival of Souls and House on Haunted Hill, which are also great riffs to classic horror movie nerd favorites.

They've also riffed the original Star Wars (I liked those) and the LOTR trilogy (haven't seen them yet). People have this thing about things they like getting riffed; It's not necessarily because it's bad, but because it lends it self to riffing possibilities.

Even going back to MST3K the issue seems less whether or not the movie is bad (a few of the movies on MST3K were good!) but whether it provides material that you can joke about.

Starship Troopers has giant bugs and spaceships and Dizzy's obsession with Rico and a few other things on top of the actual satire, so you can make fun of those without much trouble. Night of the Living Dead has zombies and a woman going crazy and people shouting at each other, etc. They might have trouble with Inherit the Wind or 12 Angry Men.

Of course the risk with good movies is also the presence of genuinely emotionally powerful scenes and how do you handle that? I'll have to try the Jaws riff sometime because I don't know how you'd handle something like Chrissy's death, which is just brutal on its own.

That's why they riffed Casablanca. To prove that they could riff a classic (although I didn't care for the movie myself). Mike once said they could riff movies like Passion of the Christ or Schindler's List if they really wanted to, but it would probably not work out as well as some superhero movie.

A friend of mine doesn't care for Rifftrax because I think he takes the movies a little too seriously. He asked how I would feel if they riffed my favorite movie, Blade Runner. I said I'd love to see that. It certainly has its flaws and seeing it riffed would not change my mind about it.
