Sophia is probably either in the Breakup Megathread in E/N or she's posting about football in whatever the name of the stupid sports subforum is. "Steroid Abuse Supercenter" or something.

Everything he wrote has a historical analogue that is a bajillion times more interesting and dramatically satisfying than anything he's ever written. Dude didn't invent bloodshed and political intrigue, he just made it boring and embarrassing. Grrm is awful and you don't need him. Also the bad thread is not your toilet.

How accurate is Igguldun's Julius Caesar series? It's listed under historical fiction, but if there's a decent amount of non-fiction in there I'll give it a shot. Also, are there any good series that are about the War of the Roses? Or even ones that start earlier than that? I know nothing of English/France history and would like to read something where the dialogue might be made up, but the events were real. I could read Wikipedia but I would like something with a bit more pizazz. Anything I can find looks mostly like a romance novel. Edit: Or I guess I could just read the Shakespeare plays dealing with the War of the Roses. Anybody read those? stratdax fucked around with this message at 11:44 on Aug 26, 2013 |

I've only read his Conquerer series and it's historically accurate in that he'll pick the most dramatic primary source possible. Specifically with Genghis the truth is weirder than fiction. i imagine his Julius Ceasar story would be much more rigorous since there are so many trustworthy contemporary sources to draw from. If someone can recommend some zazzy War of the Roses historical fiction it would be much appreciated. e: Bernard Cornwell's Viking stories are like 4000+ pages of Victarion chapters but way less dumb and misogynistic. Urdnot Fire posted:Remember that in ASOS they both had awesome moments. What the hell does Tyrion even do now? The intrigue bit in Mereen is pretty much over (although that would require GURM to finish something, if he ever writes any more it will probably just reboot). I suppose he can throw in a few coppers for the not going to war effort, and seeing as Varys seems to want Cersei to hang around at least he has someone to hate. I've softened on my dislike of DwD a little having read a few pages of this thread over recent days. There were some good moments in it but it desperately needed an editor, there was so much nothing. I've not softened on where it ended, a bunch of dodgy cliffhangers and deaths that will either write off four books worth of plot or set to be Deus exd away.
