Back to real cricket. CA have announced that Ryan Harris' hamstring injury is more serious than they thought (no poo poo). He's out for 6-8 weeks. Seriously, CA is the Arsenal of cricket in terms of player injury. Kinda feel bad for Harris, but after the Aussies mouthing off how they're going to run down Jimmy Anderson, there's some karma going on here for sure.

pretty fucking embarrassing to watch
Love the fact that some Aussies are blaming twenty20 cricket for Harris's injury. Because 4 overs of bowling a game last December is much more taxing than being Australia's only good bowler for the last few test matches...

He should be fine for the next Ashes. There's no real cricket on until then anyway.

Woke up and thought I'd see if anything interesting happened in the T20. Finch scored 156? :staredog:

I was looking up how the Women's Ashes points system worked (6 for a test, 2 for each 50 or 20 over game) and came across this opinion.
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...et-8783071.html

Most of me wouldn't want to devalue test cricket in such a way, but then I wouldn't mind if we did that against those countries that don't care so much about tests.

It's not the worst idea in the world. Don't most test series have a trophy (like the Ashes) that's up for grabs each time they happen between those two countries? It'd actually kinda sorta bring some competitive value to the one-dayers and make them somewhat less of an obvious cash grab if they were part of deciding the trophy.

But, then again, most test series aren't the Ashes. And once a team secures it with a test series sweep...

They should get rid of test matches and just have 5 T20's in place of each test.

They could play the short-form games first, or mix them up. But I can't see it happening anyway, the teams for each are getting so different now.

What if instead of having drawn tests they decided the result with a quick game of T20 afterwards?

Exactly this. No tied test series decided by T20, no points for ODI. Those forms of the game are interesting only as a sideshow to the real thing.

I think he may just hate draws.

And T20 is only fun when you see it live in a packed Indian stadium while the whole place goes bananas with each slog or wicket. It is quite the experience. The game itself? Could take it or leave it quite honestly, but since I live in the US and we only have access to our local artificial pitch and field on the weekends for 4ish hours each day, it is the format we usually play. But I can't stand watching it if I'm not playing in it as well. Tests and the occasional ODI, thanks.

Tendulkar doesn't want to retire in the series that was set up specifically for his retirement

http://cricket.yahoo.com/news/-tendulkar-has-no-plans-to-quit-after-wi-series--035951638.html

quote:

One BCCI official even threw in the possibility of Tendulkar playing another home Test, against England next year. “The ECB owes a lot of money to the BCCI - and there could be a Test or two organised at home against England next year. Another option is that the originally scheduled home series against West Indies (in November 2014) could be replaced by England.

I used to be the biggest fan of Tendulkar till the 2011 world cup win. In particular his revival during 2008-2011 phase where he batted much more aggressively was a treat. But after that, bit by bit, he's been destroying all his legacy. 100th "international hundred" was an unparalleled media circus. Now 200th test...jesus who gives a poo poo. Please put a 41 year old man out of his misery

That 100th hundred was amazing. It took him like a year to do it, and it was in some ODI against Bangladesh that India lost.

What a loving joke and gently caress the BCCI. This is getting embarrassing for India. Hopefully the WI bowlers thrash him and he finally retires with some of his reputation intact.
