Let me save you the trouble: it's a false flag attack perpetrated by Obongo to justify taking away ARE GUNS by using white middle-aged men REAL AMERICANS, and which is targeted at the military because he hates the military obviously.

It's comparing homicides rates and capital punishment, but it shows pretty clearly that the presence of the death penalty does not reduce the murder rate at all. I'd be willing to bet it wouldn't affect the child abuse rates either.

You mean the "ID" that was retracted because as usual, the media got it wrong while tripping over themselves in an attempt to beat the other companies?

Support for the death penalty for these people isn't so much out of a desire to see murder rates go down, but to see "true justice served" and to sound like old school hardasses while doing it by advocating for things like hangings. All the while, us pussy liberal eggheads are wasting our time by brainstorming solutions to reduce both the crime rate and the prison population that aren't as satisfying.

* Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings," substituting shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms. Done
* Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art." Done
* Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press. Done
* Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and television. Done
* Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural and healthy." Done

Nope, Lenin. It's not an absolute though, it's meant more in the sense of "He who (can work but) does not work, shall not eat", and it more has to do with the idea that owning capital and using it to pay others to work is not work in and of itself.

Yes, lest we forget, conservatives also frequently work hard to dismantle Child Protective Services, and many of them are happy to claim that child abuse is usually a hoax to allow the government to take away your kids if you step out of line.

See, I believe that boomers were really and truly raised in a time where you could pay for college by working a summer job. Where you could lose your job and walk across the street and be handed 40 hours a week with retirement benefits and a wage that could pay for a split-level house, two cars, two kids, and a golden retriever.

Here's a really specific question. My parents, who are 55 and 59 and quite intellectual, have made the argument to me on multiple occasions that the hard economic times of the early 80's, which they experienced in their 20's, were just as bad as what has been going on since 2008/9. I disagree. Are there any good resources to help refute their argument?

Well, you can point out that wages were far more fair and tracking with inflation in the early 80s. Once trickle-down and the pillaging of the middle class starts, wages for everyone (but the C-level folks) remain flat for the next 20 years, while productivity expectations spike and benefits plummet. A full-time worker in 1980 likely had health insurance, possibly a pension, a reasonable expectation of job security, and if you were in a manual labor position you probably had a union backing you up.
Today? If you're a full time worker you might not even get overtime anymore (many positions switched to "salary" which just means you can be forced to work a 60 hour week for 40 hours pay), you're expected to do more, your benefits package has shrunk--no one has pensions anymore, and 401(k)s with matching funds aren't quite the same. Thanks to private insurance companies and a broken system, costs have risen 300% over the last decade (while their profits have gone up a similar amount. Totally unrelated, I'm sure). The PPACA should help a bit with that, but its still expensive if you have a family. As for job security, the proliferation of right-to-fire laws means that if you don't pull your 60-hour week, or even just annoy the boss on the wrong day, your rear end is out the door and you'll have a 6-12 month hunt for a new job. If you're lucky.
Oh, and if you work a service/blue collar job? Those unions are all but gone now. It's you vs management, and management has a lot more "you"'s to replace you with.

To summarize, workers today have to do more and work longer hours for comparatively less pay. Jobs are also more tenuous in security and fewer in benefits. Sure, you might make more than the 1980 worker, but in terms of actual buying power you're left in the dust, and in terms of absolute happiness its probably not even a contest.
