I remember when this thread first popped up over a year ago but I finally got around to listening in the past few weeks and this is great stuff. My wife and I listened to a bunch of episodes on our last long car ride and "...no wait, concern" quickly became a shared joke.

Ive been on and off this podcast for a while now.

It still has this similarity to me of Americans trying to do Monty Python jokes, but instead of M.P. its Art on C2C, original Twilight Zone, The Forbidden Files, some Arthur C Clark series I saw as a kid and maybe some other classic stuff I forget.

Its good, its made well, and fun, and Im enjoying it more for what it is, I think. Only up to Ep 24.

Weather Report is a bit...meh, though the music isnt bad, just kinda sticks out - is that the point? Also theres usually a bit of a volume difference. Can the chosen artists at least be a track with a very slight black or weird twist? Or be even slightly relevant?

I didn't like the weather at first either until the suggestion was made that I view it as a weather report interpreted by modern dance sort of thing, and that really did help.
Plus, some of the music is really REALLY good and fits from a thematic standpoint.

Just accepting that the weather report in Night Vale really IS done via song made a huge difference in my enjoyment.

My wife has taken to using Welcome to Night Vale to get to sleep every night. Something about Cecil's voice just knocks her right out. That said, she does often get woken up by the weather, so she's not so big a fan of that.

I always thought of it as sort of an in-joke by Cecil, since a desert community probably doesn't need much of a weather update beyond "hot as balls, dry." So he plays a song instead.

Pretty much this. I tried explaining to a coworker that the weather (in my mind) actually is a completely accurate representation of the weather for that week in Night Vale, we simply don't have the right mindset, the right ears, to understand it.

He just kind of stared at me.

The last time is Atoms, Motion, and the Void, which I've been wanting to recommend to anyone who loves Welcome to Night Vale for a while. Its hard to describe, but mainly its a man named Sherwin Sleeves telling unusual stories about his life, and its genuinely beautiful and funny and strange. My favorite episode is 6, The Pennbennies. If you start on episode 1 and are having a hard time getting into it, I generally recommend to start on episode 3 (though episode 2 has the Bowl-a-Mat which I think is brilliant), since that's when it really finds its voice, so to speak. I can't say enough nice things about it, if you like odd short stories and Tom Waits-like voices then please check it out. The best time to listen is late at night, which is why it reminds me a bit of Welcome to Night Vale.
I was a bit hesitant to check this out until you said Tom Waits. Now I'm in, gonna start listening to it later on. I'm trusting your opinion on this, goon, hope I won't be disappointed.

Also, when you said "The last time" did you mean the last time a podcast wasn't boring or the last time you paid for one? If I have to shell out cash to listen at some point or another I'm gonna be annoyed.

My impression was that the weather section is more of how Cecil feels the weather is that day, rather than actually attempting to tell it through song. Like upbeat songs are brighter, more lively days while slower ones are perhaps overcast or just seeming a bit drab. That kind of thing, if that makes any sense?

Jeffrey had his last show as a Neo-Futurist ever last week. Cecil is currently performing the show in San Francisco, along with Meg, the voice of the credits. But it's an awesome show, you should go see it. It probably still has a couple Jeffrey-written plays in it since he just left.

Honestly, this is why it's usually good to follow devoted reblogging tumblrs instead of the fan artists themselves. Most of the communities keep it work safe or have a tag you can blacklist (if you're not using XKit to browse tumblr you need to go get it like, now, and add the blacklist extension) so you don't have to see the porn.

That's actually why I linked it, I wasn't sure how to handle it.

It makes me mad too, but I also think it's kind of cool in a way, to see people who dig this that much that they're making more art for it but on the OTHER hand, I totally hate that they're ripping you guys off.

Edit: that was an incredibly eventful episode of WTNV. I'm assuming you guys plan on monetizing it by selling it on iTunes or something, but if not, I made a decent recording starting a few seconds in that I'd be willing to share. I saw more than a few people doing video recordings so I'm sure those will find their way onto the internet somehow, but it seemed proper to ask here first.
