Nice, I was just went to an ice cave but going to edit my Iceland photos before I get to them. Alaska is another one of those places that looks like it would be amazing to visit.

As always with photography, pictures are nice but BEING there is another experience altogether. The hike to Mendenhall Glacier is about 5 miles each way, so about 10 miles total and totally worth it. Walking on a glacier and being in that cave was amazing. I was surprised how little wildlife I saw though. I barely saw any critters at all, no bears whatsoever, and.....tons of bald eagles. I thought it would be the other way around. I got unlucky I guess. That being said, I had an amazing time.

That... looks a lot like Hubbard Glacier, after visiting Skagway for the railroad. Somewhere I also have a relatively decent photo of Hubbard Glacier calving off some huge chunk of ice.

EDIT: Yep.

This is something I sadly have to keep reminding myself about. As someone still relatively new to photography as a hobby, sometimes I worry so much about getting a cool picture that I forget to actually enjoy being there. Unless I'm pressed for time (the sun is setting fast or the shadows are just perfect), I try to just take in a view for a few minutes before I get to shooting.

And don't forget, Alaska has two seasons, so just because you visited it once doesn't mean you've seen everything it has to offer.

Though to be fair, a lot of it becomes inaccessible after it gets buried in snow. But the parts you can get to are pretty badass.

We may have years, we may have hours, but sooner or later we push up flowers.
Might stop shooting my expired "lovely before it was expired grocery store brand" film stash now that I have a sense of how to expose it properly, and try to save it for intentional projects.

Well, I uh... actually forgot my tripod and ND filter. It's just a 1/6th second exposure and praise be to the 15-85's stabilizer. I used a 3-stop (0.9?) on calmer water before, and it would've been nice here since I was at the extreme limit of overcast skies, low iso and diffraction just to get 1/6. Definitely preferring the little bit of texture in the water and will probably try shorter exposure times now rather than just aiming for ultra-smooth blur by default.
