Unrelated, how can goons love sriracha so loving much but still not know how to loving say it or spell it? It is like the goon version of calling it a "lie-bary" or eating some "pshgetti".

That reminds me of a stupid kid in my class who lied about being unable to say spaghetti. He'd be like "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SAY SPAGHETTI. SEE? SCABETTY." When I'm in the mood for turkey but don't feel like roasting a whole bird, I butterfly a turkey breast, stuff it, and make turkey rouladen. I brine it and love how simultaneously dense and juicy it is.

Spelling is a different matter, but as for saying it... Because in the English pronunciation of it, the first R is silent? This is sort of like when George Takei went on that rant about how Americans pronounce Tsunami wrong. Hard Ess sound with a silent T is as close as we can get, George... we just don't have the "tsu" sound in our language.

Rabbit makes a good weird thanksgiving food. It is easy to cook in bulk and is goes pretty well with most traditional t-day side dishes.

While we're talking about pet peeves I have a major one - why the gently caress is it so common for people to say "[cooking method] off"? "I seared off that steak." "I baked off that loaf of bread." Why do you have to add the word off? It doesn't make any sense and sounds loving stupid!!! Stop doing it!!

I have a friend who pronounces it "see-RA-chee." When I asked him why he pronounced c-h-a as "chee" he just sort of frowned and said that he actually wasn't sure why.

GWS has a penchant for pedantic arguments about whether X is ~foodcategory~ edit: personally, yes, baked ziti is a casserole because it is a dish that is baked in a deep pan and served in same pan. Burgers are sandwiches. Tacos are sandwiches because they are wraps and/or open faced sandwiches which are both sandwiches. GrAviTy84 fucked around with this message at 03:03 on Sep 26, 2013 |

Ziti's definitely a casserole. I do not like baked pasta dishes of any sort, but I realize they might be popular in the US because very few home cooks here know to finish their pasta in the sauce. So I can see why baked pasta would be preferred to naked pasta with sauce glooped on top. Also explains why we're so crazy about macaroni and cheese - for some reason we sauce that pasta. loving weird.

No, I pronounce it "sue-nom-ee", with no T sound. According to George, the correct Japanese syllable has a slight T sound to it.
