I dunno if I buy that.. the numbers are a bit worn.. but the overall side of the tire is't overly scuffed.. maybe I need new glasses.

Yeah, I think I'd go with curb-rash before extreme under/over-inflation. Either way, I think I'd like to know what shop plugged the sidewalls so I know to NEVER GO THERE EVER.

Was probably just the owner, a shop would have trimmed them at least a little.

Not too horrible, but definitely a rust failure. Sounds like it's trying to race everywhere now but with a leaking rear main, the clutch is pretending to be a wet clutch so it's slower than you'd imagine. Jumping into this while used to the Baja is what I'd imagine driving a glacier to be like. Bajaha fucked around with this message at 02:52 on Sep 28, 2013 |

Hot drat, if I'm counting right it's even got 24 big and 24 small spokes! So you could have a 24-hr clock with 1/2 gradations, or 12-hour with 15-minute ticks. Now I wanna do it.

Just have the big spokes count for your hours, and the small spokes half-hours. Give it only an hour hand. solarNativity fucked around with this message at 18:19 on Sep 28, 2013 |

So I was having some problems getting my Nova started. Figured I flooded the poo poo out of it and fouled the plugs. I got the plugs changed and tried to fire it up. It started.

About that attempt at a steering gearbox rebuild... Before cleanup: And after. Done primarily with a bundle of rags, a wire brush, and 2 cans of brake cleaner: Well that explains both the loose/rough feeling while turning, as well as the gritty deposits found in what was left of the lubrication in this thing. From what I've found in my searching so far, it'll be way less aggravating to just exchange for a rebuilt box rather than source what I need to fix this one properly. Yeah, I don't really see how you'd fix that without owning a decent machine shop. Are you able to get new guts or will it have to be a whole new box? I grabbed a couple more pictures of my ex-muffler but I'm on my phone so I'll post them later.

Maybe if you could extract all the precious metal. All the precious metal exists as a thin film on a honey-comb-like ceramic substrate.

Not long. I'm not driving it right now as it is. There are still things I want to do with it before I'll feel comfortable taking it on the road by myself. I've yet to tear into the brakes (), so I'll mostly likely pick up a cheap muffler and get that in when I tackle that. The steering is a lot lighter than I'd like it to be, too. I can't tell how it compares to my old car as it's been too long for me to remember. Brakes first though. I wish I still had all my brake drum tools from my last Nova, but I think they're gone. It sounds pretty loving awesome right now, though.
