Is that some kind of fetish porn masquerading as a comic?

Actually it's a blazing critique of fetish porn comics disguised as a fetish porn comic. Layers upon layers.

Yeah, I see a lot of praise for that comic, but every time someone posts something from it here it looks like incomprehensible cheesecake bullshit.

TBF it literally started as a fetish porn comic Adam Warren was doing on commission. It just evolved into something far more fun and interesting.

Isn't it weird how all his work just happens to have underage-looking women that get all their clothes torn off? Oh, but it's "satire". :jerkbag:

As opposed to other superhero comics which are never incomprehensible cheesecake bullshit.

All that acclaim isn't a trick. We aren't trying to fool you into reading a bad comic. If you don't want to read it, that's fine. But just know that you're missing one of the most creative superhero books being published.

If I'm not mistaken some pages were posted here where I think the blonde in the domino mask is sexually assaulted by some lava monster. So...good guess? I think it was just a dream sequence, but yeah, saw that and decided that it wasn't for me.

This doesn't help your point at all, because it was established way before Warren that the running gag with Fairchild was to always have her lose her clothes.

I think the Fairchild panel is kind of funny, and I have a high opinion of Empowered, but just because something is meant to be funny doesn't make it any less a problem or less fetishistic.

Well its not uncommon for people to say, "yea this may sound creepy, but its really not like all the others", then you read it and boom its just as creepy and weird as all the others. So the skepticism is kind of understandable. Personally I am avoiding it as there are plenty of well written books that aren't fetish comics.

Some teeth long for ripping, gleaming wet from black dog gums. So you keep your eyes closed at the end. You don't want to see such a mouth up close. before the bite, before its oblivion in the goring of your soft parts, the speckled lips will curl back in a whinny of excitement. You just know it.
It's honestly really, really good and not actually porn (although it frequently dances right on the line). It's really worth a shot, but if you don't want to read it, hey. Don't read it. Just don't judge the content inside, because it's really not what you think.

Empowered is really a fetish porn comic that also serves to satirize fetish porn comics. It's like "here's some examples of why this poo poo is creepy as hell but also let's make sure we embellish those examples thoroughly with lots of establishing shots of T&A."

I'd almost say that, rather than being satire, it's a fetish porn comic that is also very genre-aware. Which is a pretty neat trick, really, to be able to comment on the genre while still indulging in its worst excesses. It's a better book than most people will think upon first encountering it but I find anyone's decision to avoid it to be one hundred percent understandable.

Eh, there's never any actual nudity. Well Willey Pete and Protean are both naked but one's "covered" by white hot flames and the other's a shapeless blob. I don't see anyone complaining about Doop being naked around children all day.
