My main problem with it is it seems to be too focused on the war part of the Cold War but I guess that's just the type of game it is. And the need to have a "We Are The World" type situation to begin with. It says in the developer diaries that the reason it's being done is it can be tough to find ahistoric ministers for some countries but Kaiserreich found real leaders across the ideological spectrum in made up countries and it took place years before. Seems like it'd be easier to find political figures for real countries during an even more politically diverse era.

My last MDS game was stalled because the Ukrainian civil war never ended. The two air forces would kill each other's ground forces as soon as they were built. Eventually I just commented out the nuclear weapon events, used slider cheats to turn the EU into a left wing dictatorship and invaded the Anglosphere. Not really the best mod out there.

I'm a big-enough :spergin: that I'm happy to just cancel the Iraq war, build and upgrade stuff and read events, but yeah it's a square-peg-round-hole kind of deal and makes me glad for the Kaiserreich team's professionalism.

It's okay, I thought I was getting into a minor role and I ended up being a dev. Still unpaid, but I get fringe benefits and it's helped my resume at little. I think it's pretty obvious it's a tightly budgeted team. I know Manga Mundi/World Stage gets brought up a lot here, but paradox has a better grasp on having 3rd party developers work for them now from my perspective. If there's one thing I can say, I really don't think it will be another MM/WS.

For the most part we could find a lot of what is usually suggested for ministers, but we're still developing nations as they get posted (even after). Just check out the UK in the latest round. I personally didn't want it posted so soon...Ugh. But, it's really hard to find, say, a fascist for Nigeria or any number of countries with very little documentation on their third party politics. The main intent for We Are The World was to help us fill in those gaps. Which in some cases it definitely has. I will say this, historical ministers get priority for being in charge of a country.

VV That means you'll need to work on getting yourself in charge, Gorgo. You've got competition for leadership, sorry! VV

Do not trust in hope- it will betray you! Only faith and hatred sustain.

So I just got Vicky II and I have no idea why I'm making or losing money. I'll look at my budget and discover that sometimes I'm losing 20 pounds a day and sometimes I'm gaining 20 pounds and I don't know why. I've got a fabric mill running in Rio, it's mostly staffed, it sometimes loses me money and sometimes it's solvent but I realized that it's not paying me anything. Taxes and tariffs are as high as they go, I can't really identify where I'm leaking money and I don't even know if it's rising costs or losing income that's hurting me.

You actually don't necessarily want to just crank taxes up if you're losing cash, that results in POPs not having as much money to spend and thus your economy does lovely and thus you actually get less tax money (if I remember right). Same with tariffs; unless you're actually trying to protect a fairly large domestic industry base from cheaper foreign goods, I wouldn't crank it up to maximum. You'll stop getting as many (usually necessary) imports and won't actually see as much tariff income. This is all just based on me fiddling with the economics, I could be dead wrong but I notice as soon as taxes and tariffs get high, my income starts to plummet.

Also the more you tax the richer people the longer it will take them to gather up the money necessary to open up factories and etc.

What kind of economic system do you have (based on the party in power I think)? That will affect factory income and such.

Tariffs are usually a trap. Don't use them unless your desperate for cash or your fairly self sufficient on industrial inputs or various weird fringe scenarios that aren't worth thinking about until your good. They can easily kill any developing industry.

I wish they'd patch/expansion Vic 2 one more time, using stuff learned from EU4 like the aggressive expansion/diplomacy system instead of infamy or the construction panel (it's still annoying to try and keep track of fort levels in a large empire), and of course automating state spending on factories and infrastructure even during State Capitalism/Planned Economy.

Vic2 is still my fave Paradox game though - guiding a country from agrarian roots to industrialization just gets me every time.
