One more vote for meatloaf. In regards to the gyoza, is it possible to pan-fry them rather than deep-fry them? Mostly because there's not a deep-fryer in this household that I'm aware of, and it seems pretty easy to flip them in a pan. Not sure if the gyoza wrappers would affect if they stick to the pan or not, even with oil.

Yes, lightly pan cooked on both sides is how you usually get them at a restaurant, but they use fresh-made dough wrappers so they cook better like that. Never actually tried them deep fried but I assume they're very similar in taste just oilier and crunchier. Looks like this ^^ Pulled this image off the Google.

You can steam/boil them, or do a combo where you steam them first and pan fry for the crisp bottom. This covers the technique nicely. Also the recipe for these gyoza (cooking the filling aside) sounds kinda bland. No salt or anything? And what is butter doing in gyoza?  Throwing in my vote for beef stew, because meatloaf sounds gross. e: also making your own gyoza wrappers is easy and is way worth the effort compared to gnocchi. yoshesque fucked around with this message at 05:17 on Oct 1, 2013 |
