I'd be arguing with people that 3 is the best and feeling sad that almost no one would agree. I do have a good deal of nostalgia for the first one though, it was the first Genesis game I played through. SOR3 is the best because it doesn't have that grappler rear end in a top hat on the boat. You have to admit that it's a weird selection. Shinobi gets to start on its third and best iteration but Streets of Rage and Sonic have to start at their comparatively dull first installments. Then there's Altered Beast which is a game that no one has ever enjoyed, and properties like Bonanza Bros and Phantasy Star continue to lay fallow. Puzzling. I guess they could be holding something back for an as-yet unannounced Volume 2?

They've officially said that they want to do a second volume but it'll come down to whether the first volume sells well enough to justify it. The arcade titles in particular took longer than they were anticipating. I'm also guessing they're limited to games that would work in stereoscopic 3D, which kinda precludes games like Phantasy Star or Shining Force.

Uh everyone knows the first Sonic is the best of the Mega Drive games. Do Sonic 2 or 3&Knuckles have Star Light Zone? No? Didn't think so.

SoR2 is a great game, but SoR3 had potential to be the best one, and then they made so many unnecessary changes to the difficulty and made the game unable to be beaten on Easy that kind of makes it pale in comparison. They should've just brought over the Japanese version and stopped there.

Ocarina of Time 3DS was probably a more substantial remake than Wind Waker HD but they're both worth the asking price so I don't care.

Yeah, Ocarina of Time 3D is ridiculously pretty. Also the control/inventory reworking is a neat bit of adaptation.

It just doesn't seem to be something that they do.

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what you want from OOT3D. The graphics are much prettier and 3D, and the interface was reworked both to be more usable in general and also for the 3DS. I dunno what you want past that.

irlZaphod posted:I was asking (genuinely) were there any major visual changes other than the obvious graphical upgrades. Oh, well yeah, there are a bunch of parts that were genuinely remade rather than just retouched. The interior of Hyrule Castle is an obvious example - it used to be a big blurry texture with a village painted on, but now it's all properly modelled with polygons. Some parts have had more work than others, but the improvements are immediately obvious in most places. Visually, WWHD is pretty much the same game at a higher resolution with a bunch of shaders on top. That's not a knock against the game or the HD version, it's just a testament to how well the original visuals have held up, and how little work was required to make it look sufficiently modern.

WW isn't remodelled with increased polygons, it only has different superficial effects applied to it like 1080p. Hence the difference between WWHD and OoT3D was more than just the 3D effect.

Demo means eShop listing for the game which means we finally have an Australian price for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies: $39.95 Little higher than I would've liked but lower than they could've tried to jam us with so I'll probably cop it anyway.

If they leave it up to Atlus USA we in Europe will get screwed. If they leave it up to Sega Europe, then we will be screwed either way because anything deemed niche won't be localized. On the Ocarina of Time talk, keep in mind the Master Quest is completely new and not like the cheap thing they did on the Gamecube version.

Highly recommend downloading the Phoenix Wright Demo. Holy crap I can't wait for it to be released, the new prosecutor looks like he'll be fun to break down, there looks like there will be multiple defense attorneys to play at different times, and looks like many familiar faces from the original make an appearance. that was one of my biggest complaints about Apollo Justice was the lack of characters from the previous games making an appearance.
