SOR3 is the best because it doesn't have that grappler rear end in a top hat on the boat.

You have to admit that it's a weird selection. Shinobi gets to start on its third and best iteration but Streets of Rage and Sonic have to start at their comparatively dull first installments. Then there's Altered Beast which is a game that no one has ever enjoyed, and properties like Bonanza Bros and Phantasy Star continue to lay fallow. Puzzling. I guess they could be holding something back for an as-yet unannounced Volume 2?

They've officially said that they want to do a second volume but it'll come down to whether the first volume sells well enough to justify it. The arcade titles in particular took longer than they were anticipating.

I'm also guessing they're limited to games that would work in stereoscopic 3D, which kinda precludes games like Phantasy Star or Shining Force.

SoR2 is a great game, but SoR3 had potential to be the best one, and then they made so many unnecessary changes to the difficulty and made the game unable to be beaten on Easy that kind of makes it pale in comparison. They should've just brought over the Japanese version and stopped there.

It's Nintendo, they sold Ocarina of Time for full price (for a 3DS game).

Apart from the 3D, it wasn't. The only real differences from the N64 version were the inclusion of Master Quest (which already existed), and the visual cues in the Water Temple.

I was asking (genuinely) were there any major visual changes other than the obvious graphical upgrades.

I get that there was probably more work required with Ocarina of Time to put it out on the 3DS, compared to the HD port of Wind Waker, but I still don't think Nintendo would ever put out a game and not charge full price for it. It just doesn't seem to be something that they do.

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what you want from OOT3D. The graphics are much prettier and 3D, and the interface was reworked both to be more usable in general and also for the 3DS. I dunno what you want past that.

Weren't both Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D a good $10 less than every other first party 3DS game Nintendo have released.

Or whatever the equivalent of $10 is in countries where the RRP of these games aren't $70.

Oh, well yeah, there are a bunch of parts that were genuinely remade rather than just retouched. The interior of Hyrule Castle is an obvious example - it used to be a big blurry texture with a village painted on, but now it's all properly modelled with polygons. Some parts have had more work than others, but the improvements are immediately obvious in most places.

Visually, WWHD is pretty much the same game at a higher resolution with a bunch of shaders on top. That's not a knock against the game or the HD version, it's just a testament to how well the original visuals have held up, and how little work was required to make it look sufficiently modern.

This was a genuine question, I'm not as familiar with Ocarina of Time as probably most of this thread would be. The only version I've played through to the end was the 3DS (I played about half of the Wii VC release), but as far as I knew, aside from it obviously looking far better it was more or less the same game.

Only in games where you have to make minor adjustments and you have the 3D off, though. Sat down you have no chance on anything more than 30 degrees in any direction.

It's fine if you move your head and arms so that the 3DS and your face stay roughly the same distance and angle from each other. It made the shooting games in OoT3D a breeze.

Don't be obtuse, I wasn't saying that the 3D was the only graphical change. They have both received graphical updates, but as far as I know (or knew) the only other difference between what was done with both games is the 3D in OoT.

I see. WW isn't remodelled with increased polygons, it only has different superficial effects applied to it like 1080p. Hence the difference between WWHD and OoT3D was more than just the 3D effect.

Be happy that we even have it. I'm being totally serious here. We are slaves to the region locking and the "kindness" of third parties who aren't even Atlus.

And then NISA shuts down for bankruptcy :sigh:

Heaven knows how Sega will approach Atlus localizations. If they leave it up to Atlus USA we in Europe will get screwed. If they leave it up to Sega Europe, then we will be screwed either way because anything deemed niche won't be localized.

On the Ocarina of Time talk, keep in mind the Master Quest is completely new and not like the cheap thing they did on the Gamecube version.
