I end up using the chart every so often at work and it's much easier to get an answer of how hurt someone feels than asking "How bad do you feel?" and looking for an explanation. I think I remember reading that part of the reason is that the pictures help a person in pain actually figure out how much pain they're in quicker. It's a really useful tool. As are the interpreter phones. High school spanish, and even some of the spanish for the healthcare professional courses, can only get you so far when someone forgot to fill out some paperwork and can't understand it.

I just heard an awesome sting on Sirius Patriot. "When a black Democrat calls someone 'Uncle Tom', they're not called a racist. When a defense witness in a trial says 'Crazyass cracker' they're not a racist. But when the truth from conservatives, it's a different story in the mainstream media!" This wasn't even a program host saying this. It was the generic SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! announcer guy. Setting aside the fact that the person behind this has no clue what testimony under oath is, I find it extremely interesting that the promo never bothers to point out what the "truth" they're not allowed to say is.

Interesting fact: he actually has screentime in 'A Scanner Darkly', basically playing as himself. It's kind of bizarre just how close to his radio programming his in-movie lines got.
