As for the rod of discord, I found it to be actually nice during a fight to mess with bosses, specially the ones that charge at you.

Is there a way to make it spawn the new ores in your world yet? I want to just start off with Crimson and all the new ores instead of resetting and stuff. The fact that the stuff you make with it is straight up better is really annoying.

So I figured out today that you can paint drat near everything including (but not limited to) doors, ropes, chests, pretty much any placeable object, grass (which can then spread and sprout little plants as that color). I'm boring so I didn't do anything interesting with it but some of the people in this thread could probably do some crazy poo poo with that.

Ugh, there's no easy way to search for the Lava charm is there? At the moment I'm making small worlds and exploring the caverns with Spelunker potions. Shameless repost because I'm stupidly proud of it:  Paint opens up so many new creative options. The only problem is it requires a lot of running around, trial and error (for me anyway), and a lot of inventory juggling if you're using a lot of different paints.

To save you some time, it's extremely obvious if they have the treasure room, as there'll be a shaft leading from ground level down to the chamber with a wooden platform at the top if there is one.

It's usually about a 80/20 chance in favor of, though, roughly: when it doesn't spawn with a treasure room, it's a worldgen conflict of some sort, I believe; usually due to the tree being near Too drat Much Stuff. okay what the heck. I'm trying to kill the wall of flesh. I died the first time, and every other time since then whenever I throw the doll into the lava the guide dies but no boss spawn. What gives?

After you guys are getting killed by the Wall, are you going back down and trying again immediately? Because he doesn't despawn immediately when you die, he continues traveling all the way across the world before he goes away. If you're summoning him at the very edge it's gonna take a while.

I get the horrified debuff at random spots in the underworld but the boss ain't anywhere to be found. I checked one end to the other. Bug, I guess? So, where is the hardmode jungle as far as armor progression? I'm a mostly melee character still wearing molten armor and using the mushroom spear which, so far has torn through the underground hallow/crimnite area's I've been in. Obviously I need better armor but do i need like, full adamantite or can I go in wearing mythril.

The underground jungle has the best hardmode armor for a melee character, but it requires an ore that can only be mined after you've beaten at least one of the mechanical bosses.

Although he moved into a sky island on the far side of the map... it's far enough away that nothing spawns when I'm not there, so he isn't being killed by harpies. He's definitely died to the doll every time. I think I just ran into a bug.

You can definitely skip Hallowed, and maybe Adamantite/Titanium as long as your weapons are up to snuff. Bring Spelunker potions to hunt down Chlorophyte quickly, and something to shoot down wasps and turtles from a distance. Plantera can wait until you've got full Chlorophyte, although I consider it easier to kill than Skeletron Prime/The Twins if you can open about a screen and a half's worth of space with sticky bombs or lure it to the surface quickly.

The bonuses from the turtle and the chlorophyte armor are both not good so it's best to wear the green helm and legs and a turtle chestpiece.
