I think he might be a reference to this old atari game, but there's also a series of games called Kao the Kangaroo with a kangaroo in boxing gloves and Roo from Tekken. It's very hard to pinpoint a strangely generic character like that.

That stuff was Kao, but here's some weird miscellaneous kangaroo-themed videogame fanart. There's a huge amount of Roger fan art out there, but most of it is fairly well done. So kudos to those guys who didn't do any of the pictures posted here.

And that's not even the deepest their different renditions of the same character goes. Hasbro has a Legacy status for certain characters, Optimus prime, Cobra Commander, Duke, Blithe, etc. these are characters that have been granted immortal status and the copyright will never run out. crowfeathers posted:You don't think ponies turned into humans who go to a school is a bad idea for a story? Just chalk it up as "It originated in the 1980's, everything made sense back then". Masters of the Universe is probably the undisputed king of stuff like this. They had a story about a guy who makes a suit of armor out of a tank and other costumes to become a Macho-Man Randy Savage esque-figure in the gladiatorial matches, to only have himself torn in half and killed by a giant Lemon Lime colored Gorilla who wears a massive cape. You had a man with giant metal fist be engaged to an Egyptian Goddess type Sorceress who was also the dead wife of the first king greyskull and she somehow mothers a daughter. Skeletor was a blue elf dude who was also the half brother of the king and he got sprayed with acid and was only saved by a Vampire who decided the best way of saving him was to throw him into a dimentional rift so he could be possessed by a zombie god guy. There's a while story about Dinosaurs contracting some form of Dinosaur AIDS but it causes them to die and then come back to life. But the disease causes weapons like Machine Guns and rocket launchers to sprout all over their bodies and replaced their internal organs with cybernetic weapons too. You have people turning into Snake Monsters everywhere, like this is a pretty common occurrence. Only because there's a king made of snakes who is eternally damned to walk the earth because he fired a laser cannon into a Valhalla type place made dudes angry and all his people were turned into vampire snake monstrocities. There's pirates, but they're half bat people. They steal books and only books. Stinkor was a dude who was magically turned into a skunk animal creature. He smells bad The spider people are the worst. They're like alien chest bursters but with all the charm of Gilbert Gotfried. There are people eternally cursed to be half man half lobster. They never die they just become more lobstery as time goes on and will never know death or the sweet taste of drawn butter. They then go insane when they reach giant lobster mode. You have about 9 or 10 different princesses from alternate dimensions. Some are from earth, the others are from some lovecraftian hellhole. This was the poo poo that went on in the 1980's. This is what constituted as normal storytelling.

Yes, but supposedly bronies hate the Hasbro-designed human-versions, probably because they're not anime and/or equine enough. Yet concerned parental-types accused the toys of being too close to Bratz dolls and felt the characters were being sexualized to pander to the adult audience. Given that adult audience far prefers the pony deisgn, ignorance is truly bliss.
