Now you jerks have got me looking at the Mazda 2, but in the UK I can either have 2 flavours of 1.3 with a manual or a 1.6 with a 4-speed auto only.

Ineptus Mechanicus posted:100hp has been fine for the B-segment in the past, and with good suspension and a 5 speed it still is. I totally agree with that. Mine and my wife's DDs have ~65 and ~100hp, respectively. Both get ~47mpg. I have faster cars but they dont get 47 mpg so i drive them less often. However, i still think it gets boring after a while. I think that's natural for an enthusiast who is tempted to mod everything. After a while of something being stock you're just itching to find something 'wrong' with it to 'improve'. But, i'll always be one of the people who says most people can get along with a lot less HP than they think they can.

Speaking of MPG, and since I constantly mental masturbate about the IS 300 Sportcross, I'd like to talk about what grinds my gears: Why would you put a MPG gauge that goes to 80 mpg in a car EPA rated at 16/22 ? I can't let go of this. What do the designers think of their customers? The BMW ones seem pretty dumb too, although I don't remember if they go all the way to 80. </vent>

That said, I clearly get why people get the fiesta -- toys! (Though the toys make it so heavy, the base motor fiesta is slower than an mt 2 despite have 20hp on it). Also, no one should ever buy an automatic 2., just a terrible transmission for 2013.

The Sportcross, much like most cars, probably sees instantaneous MPG somewhere between 1 mpg and infinite (depending on closed loop and such).

The digital one in the new MINI stops at 99.9, and I see that any time my foot's off the gas.

So, my most recent wagon ownership was a disaster (only in terms of satisfaction: financially it was amazing). I got what i considered a cool car (06 Magnum) for an amazing price in great condition. Then my wife decided she wanted to use it as her DD. Over the course of a few years it was slowly destroyed. It was a mental black hole that i tried to avoid thinking about because when i thought about that car it made me like our relationship less. Eventually she wrecked it well enough to convince me to sell it off, which i did. I think she has learned some lessons about car ownership and about pissing me off so i think her current car will fare much better. But now the unfulfilled ambitions of my dead wagon are bubbling up. I looked at pictures of 2008 Magnums a few days ago and they make me very angsty.

Speaking of putting junk in your trunk and miatas being fruity, i guess ive never seen a pic of a miata with the penis wheels on it. Hmmm.

I drove my coworker's 2011 with a Cobb 1 map, and the car was slammed packed and there was traffic on the freeway onramp, found an opening on the freeway, took it to just before fuel cut in 3rd, tapped the gas in 4th, brushed the brakes in 5th, and then looked down at the speedo: 100mph. The only time I've hit 100 in the 2 was driving solo on VIR's front straight; I gained 7mph without a passenger.

Put the winter wheels on the E46. I like 'em, but have no idea what model they are. Well, bring on the frost and loving salt. In the background you can see the wife's playcar, on which I need to replace the brakes... or junk it, there's always that

Crosspost from my thread. Haulin a heavy load. There were two more but they would fall out as soon as you had the hatch open, for a total of 11. I could have probably thrown one more on top inside for 12, I could do 16 if I used the front pass seat and/or roof.

finally picked it up. 6MT 08my Liberty/legacy GT spec b Tuned by STI. Build 193 of 250. I love wagons and am always disappointed when I get out of one. Other then my Mazda 3 mps/mazdaspeed, my favourite cars I have owned have been wagons. I gave up looking for a decent current shape GT, they are simply too ugly. This one has 48k km on it, and I certainly paid too much for it but it has been something of a dream car for a while now.
