That article actually says that the vendors who pay the city for premium spots such as next to the MET do not report their income but we can infer that it is more than $400,000 since many of them have been there for years. The people making 15k a year are the carts that simply drop anywhere else in the city and compete for 'territory' and poo poo like a bunch of Neanderthals.

True; the few vendors with the cash to afford to buy the premium licenses do okay, most of the time. I don't know how well those few actually do. Sometimes they can't make the 40k / month rent and go bankrupt. The bulk of them aren't making much though.

Do you think they reach 400k a year regularly by mistake?

I met a traveller from a southern land Who said: Two vast and bunless dogs of stone stand in reform. Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered amphibian lies, whose grin, And staring eyes, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its donators poorly that kickstarter read Full over funded, granted to build these lifeless things. The ruddha that mocked them and the noni that fed. And on the pedestal these words appear: "My name is Doobie, king of kings: Look on my dogs, oh internet and despair!" Nothing beside remains. Round the ash of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare the lone and level sands stretch far away.

Broken Machine posted:Sometimes they can't make the 40k / month rent and go bankrupt. That rent is set by auction, and this 25 year old was the highest bidder. So he's an idiot, they still make $1000-$1500 a day. On the lower end that's 350-500k a year. Another article said the rent was $400k last year before he overbid - which actually makes sense.

The math in the title shouldn't be correct, to reflect the current hot dog situation. I threw $25 at hot dogs and if it fails, it was worth it for the brief few minutes that guy was happy and excited because eh, gently caress it. I've spent more on stupider poo poo in the past.

I don't think this guy is going to put up a "Whites Only" sign or treat black customers poorly, like many members of my extended family (anyone's family if you extend it enough) you find small town people who find some jokes funny that you would never want them publicly making in public around you. Not trying to defend him, but he made a "black people like chicken" comment and then immediately got called out by his mom for using the abbreviation "LMFAO" which was the thing that stuck out most to me because that is hilarious. Under his film likes he has Tyler Perry so I'm going to guess hes more... small town never really got to meet too many black people than he is racist. I had a friend who's wife had family like this and he always told me "They don't hate black people, they just don't get why that may offend someone. Bring it up and they will mention how they had a black co-worker they would joke around with but won't understand that not everyone is that co-worker and that their one black friend is not the official spokesperson of all people termed black."

When she called him out I was looking around for some horribly racist abbreviation of some kind, the fact that it was for implying that he had kinda sort of said the words 'loving' and 'rear end' was pretty great.
