It's an amusing part of their pathology. They have so little respect for the man that they forget that he is the guy in charge.

My favorite bit about this being staged is that people claim to have seen this woman before in other stock and cock speeches from Obama, just with different clothing and hairstyles. I couldn't agree any more, because I keep seeing this grey-haired toothy bastard who calls himself "Joe" hanging around the president way too much for my liking. WHO IS THE REAL JOE, MR. PRESIDENT, AND WHY DOES HE ALWAYS APPEAR AT YOUR FUNCTIONS?

E: The one good thing to come from the video is that now when someone from outside the US asks what the deal is with the Tea Party, I can just say it's "grown adults who are so incapable of coping with the reality of having a black president that they will sink to literally any low they can to try to discredit him" and then show them the video.

Heh... Hannity called the health care help line earlier in the week and got the poor lady he talked to fired. Granted, she's not blameless since one pretty big thing when you're working for a company is dont talk to the media beyond what you would normally do in your normal duty and leave anything further to designated spokespeople, but he should have known what was going to happen. He's apparently giving her $25k and trying to help her find a new job to make up for it though.

"It makes me so gosh darn angry," Palin explained. "The liberal left in this country has targeted Christian holidays and is trying to secularize them right out of existence.

"When Jesus celebrated Easter with his disciples there were no Easter bunnies or egg hunts. There were no Easter sales at department stores or parades in the street. Easter was a special time of prayer and Christian activism.

"Jesus would gather all the townspeople around and would listen to their stories about the meaning of Easter in their lives. Then he would teach them how to love one another, how to protest Roman abortion clinics and how to properly convert homosexuals.

"You can't even do things like that these days without getting called out by some wacko left-wing human rights group. Christians had more freedom under Roman rule than we do now in our own country! We need to return Easter back to the way it was when Jesus was alive."

Slightly off topic, but this is my favorite Onion story that I've seen in quite a while.

The Onion posted:

GOP Announces Plan To Go After Obamacare
WASHINGTON—In a strategic announcement that has reportedly left Beltway observers both shocked and stunned, Republican lawmakers revealed Monday that they were planning to go after Obamacare. “This may surprise many Americans, but myself and my colleagues do not like Obamacare and have been planning to gut the bill for quite some time,” said House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, adding that one of the GOP’s strategies going forward will be to attack those politicians who voted for and supported Obamacare, including the president himself. “I won’t say that we’ll use the upcoming debt ceiling increase as leverage to repeal the law, but let’s just say everything is on the table. The gloves are coming off.” Washington officials later confirmed that Democratic leaders would soon announce their plans to defend Obamacare.

I heard the tail end of this call, so I don't know if he ever identified he was calling in with a radio show, but he definitely never identified himself as he asked her if she has ever heard of a guy named Sean Hannity or seen the show Hannity on Fox and she said no. Also the whole reason he called was to be a dick and then she was so friendly that he felt the need to point out how "surprisingly helpful and kind" she was multiple times. Like that time O'Reilly went to a black restaurant and didn't get murdered.

1812 wasn't an rear end whooping outside of the burning of the white house and the failure to invade Canada, but you really can't call it a win form things like winning 2 major battles (Baltimore and New Orleans) or our privateers being badasses of the sea either which is why most historians consider it ending in a stalemate after 2 years. You're right in that the first year or so we kept getting our asses kicked because it turns out having state militias being the nations army is a really, really stupid idea.

Britain didn't really try, they were busy tied up in Europe with that whole Napoleon thing. The war eventually petered to a stop after America achieved some of its war goals so it was a technical 'victory' for the US largely because the British couldn't be bothered to keep fighting. I wouldn't call it a draw though.

America's main goals were basically to assert its sovereignty, to get Britain to stop being a dickhole on the ocean, and to get Britain to stop supporting Native resistance to American expansion. The first was just like yeah sure, whatever you say little guy, the second (impressment and embargo with France) ended when the Napoleonic wars did, and Britain gave up concessions on Native checks to American power. Really nobody won, because the reasons it was fought were bullshit and temporary. Canadians like to think they won because they prevented a nebulous attempt by the US to annex Canada which wasn't going to happen anyway.

Real historians do consider it to be a draw. No side gained anything out of it, no side really lost anything out of it - the burning of DC kinda sucked but it didn't really impact poo poo as much as you might expect since there was little of importance in DC back then.

On the sidelines of it, one of the major Indian confederations got destroyed in the crossfire, and there was the end of pushes to annex Canada by force.

To the British it was a minor conflict because throughout the time the war of 1812 went on, they were fighting Napoleon in Europe.

LP97S
Apr 25, 2008
Aside from the Native American fighting in the war, that is usually left out and is really important, it was a Status Quo Ante Bellum, literally nothing changed. That's one of the reason that only Canada really gives a drat about the war because they get to pretend that British North America was Canada back then.

I tuned in today midway through and he had someone on that he said he was going to try to find a job in the Florida panhandle area. Was that her? I was just stunned that he was asking if she wanted a full time job or what and that he was actually trying to be helpful to someone since Hannity is the worst of the smarmy fucks on the radio. The stations are starting to pull away from Sean Hannity, after the Cumulus departure.

Detroit's largest station, WJR 760, dropped Hannity from its website. The replacement seems to be Michael Savage, and WJR's afternoon schedule just has a blank.

Hannity's replacement station is a barely-known station that syndicates the conservative radio third-string, like Dennis Miller.

Krauthammer is deeply rooted in the GOP establishment, but still very conservative. I think his leanings could be best described as neoconservative. If he's taking ultra-right-wing GOP'ers to task then he's usually making pretty decent points from either a strategic standpoint or a political standpoint. Anytime he's critizing the left, though, it's pretty much just all straw men. Unfortunately that second part with all the straw men makes up like 80% of his job.

He's like a more sane version of Karl Rove.
