When modding EUIV, should I blank files that don't have anything I need, such as history files from outside my mod's timespan? I would just delete them but I've read that if you do that they'll be loaded from vanilla files instead.

Sky Shadowing posted:Distant Worlds has taken a very big step forward (they follow the model of 'critical fixes in expansion packs', thanks for getting away from that Paradox) since release, and in my personal opinion it's a great 4x game and is very Paradox like. Even if they do force you to rely on the AI a little too much, but it's still fun to have a game where there's literally too much for you to do personally. Can you teraform planets in it yet? It sounds a little absurd, but that is my biggest gripe with the game. I just love to slowly turn a galaxy of lava-hellworlds into a realm of paradises.

Paradox goons, tell me if I should spend $10 on the save game converter for Crusader Kings 2. I've always wanted to do a mega campaign, but if the converter throws everything out of whack then I won't bother.

It's fairly good (better than any fan made converter made for any of the games) but still not as good as a hand made scenario and may take some massaging to get things in order.

'Provinces' provide farm/grazing/wild-land as a resource that are processed by your Tula (which is just a settlement). Darken parts of the map for the purpose of exploration. Change turns so that there are 2 per season. Events happen. The only bit that substantially deviates from base CK2 is the whole court/tribe ring as consistently interactive advisers. Virtually everything else is all there in one form or another.

NihilCredo posted:This could make for a decent open-ended mod idea. Regular (annual or biannual) "council meeting" events where you have to solve a handful of issues with your realm chosen semi-randomly (e.g. if you're at war you might need to judge a group of cowardly soldiers; if a building is in progress you might have to replace the dead master builder; and so on). The various options to deal with it become available only if you or the appropriate councilmen have certain stats or traits; it would also be an opportunity to make councillor opinion matter for jobs other than spymaster (if they hate you they'll offer malicious advice). I mean conceptually hard. You'd need a ridiculously dedicated modding team to do the mountain of work it would be.

Has anyone else been having serious savegame corruption issues in the latest Kaiserreich? Whenever I save a game, the thing crashes within a couple days of loading the save - but there's no crash issues when I first start and playthrough a game.

Of course, but as with any Paradox game, those text files where the names are placed were typically made and checked by real people.

A King of Dragon Pass game would really have to be made by somebody who really knew the lore - The fact that the game was actually made at least with consultation from the Glorantha guy if not actually by him is part of what made it so special. The world felt really deep.

A KoDP mod would be difficult to do just because of how religion works. It's confusing enough in the game designed to deal with it.

To be fair to Paradox I'll say that I'll buy EvsW if it's run through their improved QA and is at least playable with a not-braindead AI at release, for a passable cold war themed war game. Needs a lot more dev diaries to flesh out mechanics, some of what I've read have looked like decent abstractions to save us from a late game modded Vick 2 performance, but I'll need more information to be convinced. Prob won't be a very good political or Vietnam simulation, but I like the national unity mechanic.

Exports to CK2. Generates new world, exports to EU IV. Exports to Vicky 2. Exports to HoI3. Exports to Late Civilization game. Exports to that space 4x game we all know you want to make. I'll take my royalties in check form, thank you! No, but seriously, I agree, Spore was way too ambitious, and if it's ever to be attempted again (something I'd really like to see done), they'd be better off doing it in two or three games (Cell and Creature, Tribe and Civilization, Space). Buy the game you want, get bonuses when you carry it over.

Is anyone else having some weird troubles with Kaiserreich? Specifically I'm seeing some really long movement times, especially outside of Europe. I was just playing as the Ottomans and one of my units wanted to take months to get from Jerusalem to Ankara The other, even weirder thing is that sometimes when I strategic redeploy my units don't go where I put them. Sometimes they reappear where they were, sometimes they just wind up in some random-rear end province in Bumfuck, Nowhere. It's not because of the province I send them too, of that much I am certain. Anyone got any ideas?

For slow movement times, copy the terrain types file from Darkest Hour Full's Map_1 folder and put it in Kaiserreich's. The game is defaulting to the file in the core directory which makes movement a lot slower. As for redeployment, I've never seen that. What version are you using? Beamed posted:http://pastebin.com/ft8cRmSw Huh. Try some other mods first and see if it happens again.
