Put together an order on Belgium in a box. You can get about eleven bottles of cantillon shipped for 270$ or so.

Apparently there has been some kind of distributor snafu because there is no Backwoods Bastard south of Division. River North Binny's and one of my other bottle shops both told me they were invoiced it but there was nothing on the truck. I was under the impression they made a ton of this stuff too =\.

In PA all beer either comes from bottle shops or distributors. If it shows up in a bottle shop you just make your own six pack. So I'm right :colbert:

edit - This is somewhat less correct now than it was a few years ago. Now you can buy up to 192oz of beer (yes, there is a limit) at certain grocery stores. But the main places I shop are still bottle shops that specialize in singles and build-your-own.

Sort of beer related? Does anyone with prior FoBAB knowledge know about transferring tickets? Does it have to be in the attendee's name (ie email BPT or something?) or do they just need to show up with A legit ticket?

I was really thinking about shirking some of my meetings, and driving my way up the hill around 10:30a or so.. but then I saw they're only releasing 12 bottles of Expo and Chez... I'd say chances of getting one are pretty slim.

Last year, if I remember right (and let's be honest, poo poo is hazy that day), you showed up, told them your name/showed ID, and you got your glass. So unless you contacted them prior to have a name change, I dunno how it would work without the original ticket buyer there as well.

The Top Fuel barleywine is a collab with Local Option (they forgot to add the name of the Bierwerker there...). LO's had it on tap for a few weeks but I haven't been able to get over there and try it yet.

Anyway, this sounds insane. That's nearly $500 in allocated beer.

It's pretty good from what I recall. Granted, I was about five beers deep and it was only a sip. Definitely something to try though.

December in Michigan is wallet destroyer for beer nerds and then we have a dry spell for the rest of the year:

- Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice (good luck walking out without dropping $200 or so)
- Dark Horse 4 Elf (I'll be definitely getting BB Pt5, BBA 6 Pairs of Legs, BBA 3 Pairs of Legs, and whatever is good on tap)
- Founders always does a Backstage
- Jolly Pumpkin seems to always do one bottle release in December.

I was there last night, they told me the keg had kicked and that they're saving their last one for the pre-FoBAB party.

I'm considering driving up for 4 Elf. It's a little strange how they're doing the bottles though; I was hoping that I'd be able to get my order form, get bottles into my car, get the car back to the hotel, and spend 11am onward drinking. Do they allow overnight parking for people too wasted to drive?

Awww, I thought I heard they were going to be doing ticket sales for this ala the recent Founders releases. I was thinking of going if that was the case. Really not interested in standing in line for hours, outside, in mid-December.

Probably going to hit up Eccentric Day this year instead.

They decided against ticket sales because they didn't want to give up control to another website that would handle the ticket sales or something.

Bottle shares while waiting in line are the best part!

You can transfer tickets via brown paper tickets, you just need to have the ticket number with bar code and the name of the original ticket buyer. Pretty sure you can do the whole transfer via e-mail or text message. I think when I did it it was through text message.

I got there yesterday a 11:00, ate at the diner and shared a couple of bottles from home with the girls working the bar, then ambled over to the bottle shop and got a bottle of Great and a Monus at around 12:30. For whatever reason, these weekday releases aren't getting a ton of attention right now. Do it. Have the SDBW appetizer while you're there; yesterday's was two seared scallops with bacon and a cream sauce. Delicious.

Perhaps this is just me being dickish, but a "crowd" in Waterbury is a slow day everywhere else and what the neighbor is putting up with in that article sounds like what thousands of people who live in anywhere remotely populated put up with on a daily basis.

I am getting the idea that people in New England are generally poor neighbors and really hate people turning around in their driveway for some reason yes.

There are a couple of breweries in Bend that are in sort-of residential areas. Boneyard is right in what passes for the ghetto in Bend (and is nothing but growler fills so pretty much the same in-and-out setup as Alchemist), and people park all up and down the side street 10 Barrel is on because there's maybe about 16 parking spots to cover for them and 3 other businesses. There are a couple "no parking" signs up on driveways but no one seems to complain that badly and there is peace on the streets. (It helps that the drunks pretty much stick to downtown to cause trouble.)

Still if Alchemist is that much of a jewel of beer, best in the world, employs a couple dozen people etc, etc, then it might just be time for them to find a retail location back on Main St.
