Small update: Replaced both front bearings just to be sure. Rides smooth as glass now and hopefully will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Edit: totally not looking into the fact this is the first post on page 13

Think I'm out of the woods, fellas. I've got 1.5k on this clutch and it's given me no problems so far. Wheel bearings are good. Engine doesn't burn oil at anywhere near the rate of the old one and the PO-supplied magnetic drain plug has given nothing out of the ordinary. Checking oil every time I fill up from now on.

Here's a question. The valve retainers are almost certainly the AP1 design, but they probably aren't too cracked just yet. Should I: A) Take the ones I bought for the other motor and put them in B) Buy new ones and put them in c) IT RUNS DON'T loving TOUCH IT YOU GOD DAMNED IDIOT

"Goon in a well" isn't even applicable. This is "Heroin addict goon who finds syringe full of murky colored fluid" territory.

It is not the cause, just something to mull over. I put them in the old engine when I rebuilt it but I haven't looked at these yet.

If you bought AP2 retainers then put them in, otherwise buy new ones. I haven't done mine yet either, but I also have never checked to see if someone else did
