This season has been nearly perfect. I know a lot of people checked out when they supposedly ended the series last year but the show has been amazing.

That's a drat fine question as the thread is unanimous in agreeing that the show is as strong as ever in this final-last season, if not being the best season yet.

Almost every show gets all that poo poo wrong, and it's so annoying - like earlier with the Doug Benson thing, I refuse to believe being high actually makes him act like that. It's funny too, because the Drunk History thread is full of people complaining that the people aren't "drunk enough" for their linking.

Him and his company make money hand over fist, enough so that there's big conventions about Minecraft. He's not big enough to be on something like Letterman but making it on Ferguison doesn't seem that strange.

Then those same people tell me shows like Bar Rescue and Restaurant Impossible are fake because no place is that bad. I try to point out that they've described way worse things to me but they just can't see the connection.

My family has worked in food service for three generations and although I haven't seen any of the shows you guys are talking about, I can confirm that there's no bottom to the food service barrel. Running a restaurant isn't about being good at business or good at cooking. Its about being dedicated enough to show up at four in the morning and work until ten at night for next to no profit. Its about being okay with perpetual debt, working in an industry that's as stable as a rowboat in a hurricane and facing periods of months or even years of stagnant or declining sales. In short, food service is about being crazy enough to stick it through, which is why it attracts the extremes, both good and bad.

Season 2 > season 3 > season 5 > season 1 > season 4, so in other words, arguably the same as Buffy. Season 2 was the most amazing, presumably because the writers' strike afforded them time to really think the season through. Season 4 was problematic, but it had its highlights, and season 5 is worth watching.

It's good and a lot of fun to watch, but it shares the curse of many episodic shows. After a while, the new episodes start to feel like just more of the same.
That said, I'd still recommend it. The chemistry between the cast members was incredible, and I can't overstate how funny this show was. Captain Awesome telling Ellie he was attacked by a bear? Pure gold!

I didn't actually find it funny per se, but it was very fun, if that makes any sense. It balanced the lighthearted stuff with the serious stuff really well, and for the most part, the cast felt like they were people you'd really like to hang out with.

Season 4 is where that "more of the same" feeling really hits hardest, but all things considered, Chuck and the gang had considerable character development over the 5 seasons. Every half-season marked a point where they thought they would be cancelled, so as a result, every 10-13 episodes, they'd take three steps forward, followed by two steps back. Still, you could see their lives and personalities moving forward in concrete ways--you could name any situation in the series, and you'd probably be able to identify the season solely from Chuck's reaction to said situation.

I thought the first two seasons of Chuck were genuinely special, but then it started to go down hill and soon it was into this bizarre place where the writers knew they were still on the air because of the dedicated fans and started pandering to them to a ludicrous degree. Everything turned into bad fanservice and the central relationship that gave the show it's heart began, as I recall, constantly retreading old ground it should have been beyond.
