Beware the Evil Hair Maiden
Thursday, June 14th, 2007

It began as an event not that special or different from any other just like it. The Dozerfleet founder had an appointment with the Hair Maiden, unaware she was the Evil Hair Maiden. He'd had appointments at her shop before, so this was routine. Except, she didn't show up for work this time. Even though scheduled. He thought that was strange, but the staff assured him there was nothing to worry about. He let them carry out the haircut, all the while wondering what was up.

Sure enough, he should not have been so quick to trust them. It was a setup. The following Friday, the Evil Hair Maiden revealed her true nature. The Dozerfleet founder was getting ready to begin chapter 19 of Ciem, when a police detective showed up at the door. He began asking questions about things, and none of it made any sense. Shortly thereafter, the Facebook page at 5:34 PM revealed the feelings of anger and betrayal. But it turned out to be only the beginning.

More injustice

As it turned out, Dining Services staff were also heavily involved in trying to trump up allegations. There was a conspiracy to bring down Dozerfleet, by taking out its founder. A conspiracy that appeared to be two-fold, and one that had no issue at all with getting nasty. As the summer of character assassination continued, he grew increasingly distressed by it. The school, on top of everything else it had allowed to happen, ordered mandatory counseling. Through it all, all they did was reinforce his desire to see his tormenters pay for what they'd done - for what they were continuing to.

The character of Bumphrob in Ciem was just one reference to the events. The desperately wicked Kelsea Linney, who blows up Denny's house, was inspired by the Evil Hair Maiden and the constant surveillance and campus harassment she was responsible for. Her face is never shown in the webcomic, as a way of avoiding legal issues. This marked the second completed work in the Dozerfleet collection that she inspired somehow. The other two were the Every Ape songs "Slaughterized" and "Die Die Die!!!," with the latter song specially re-tooled to be a "take that" against her.

It's a good thing the internet exists to occupy this guy or there's no way he wouldn't be a murderer by now.

A lack of response made it very clear that Emily had only marginal respect for the Dozerfleet founder, whereas Patti had no respect at all in spite the good things he'd done. The Dozerfleet founder initially took the three panels below, and submitted the black-and-white versions of them as the three components of story for the anthropomorphizing project that Art Hansen assigned the IMAG 111 class. However, Hansen quickly revealed his misostylic bias, saying: "But...but...you can't use pens!"

"Why not?" he was asked. "Because...you just can't! They don't have faces!" He was reminded that the saxophone didn't have a face either. But that didn't matter. Misostyly cannot be reasoned with.

That the Voyagers are not only anthropomorphized pens, but also being used to tell a dramatic story with political depth, rubbed Hansen even more the wrong way. Not only did he believe the story "cannot use pens," but using them to tell a complicated plot made it even more offensive to his sensibilities.

He explains this somewhere, maybe in the Dozerfleet Logo wiki page. Apparently, his computers are like the fleet of bulldozers in the story, so the logo is supposed to look like a cross between a computer and a bulldozer. Because just like the bulldozers that resisted the evil of collectivism, his computers resist the evil of people who don't understand his genius and Obama and evil gays and bitches who take out restraining orders on him,

Hate to change gears from Dozerfleet for a second as...well, he is clearly the fount that keeps on founting, but I have a dilemma. I'm a (very) minor internet personality who's had a page on TV Tropes for a long time, created and updated by weird fanboys, and recently, I've just had enough of it and the drama and the weirdos. I'm a person who creates internet content, I'm not a TV show or a videogame, and I'm about finished with people bitching about every little thing I say and do, even personal details, on this crappy site. What's the quickest way, do you think, to get it removed? Is there some mod I ask about it, or with how poorly TV Tropes is designed, can I just find a way to rip it out myself?

tl;dr How do you eradicate a TV Tropes page that doesn't need to exist?

What's the nature of your e-fame? They generally ignore creators asking for a page about their work be deleted, but trope pages aren't supposed to be about someone's personal life. It happens all the time because most of the userbase ignore those sort of rules but if you make a thread in Trope Repair Shop or Wiki Talk you might find someone who'll listen to you.

Considering that tropers read this thread, it could go one of two ways:

1. They purge you from the wiki for speaking bad of them.

2. They add a little note about how you hate TVTropes and hurt their feelings to your page.

I remember there being a TvTropes page for a fanfic that had been deleted and was totally unavailable online in any form. The author themselves asked it to be removed because it no longer existed and a TvTropes admin shot them down.

Jay O is Jesu Otaku, an anime reviewer (by the way Jay O, I really liked your Myazaki month stuff). Tropers have an unhealthy obsession with anyone affiliated with Channel Awesome or That Guy With The Glasses, either in past or present form. I can understand why you'd want to get rid of pages sperging out about stuff that happened in your videos. I've seen that page, and the poo poo under their YMMV tab is loving obnoxious.

In any case, the paranoid tropers lurking around reading this forum will have a poo poo hemorrhage if somebody ever pointed out that *gasp* their creeping on an internet personality isn't appreciated by said person! Why, they made that whole page about a person! Why do they hate them?

That'd be one thing, but they're sperging about a lot of stuff that's not in my videos, they just stalk every detail about me across the internet, through social media, etc., which as you can imagine is creepy and tiresome as hell. I don't visit the site on my own, but every time people tweet me about some weird slander that goes up there, I pop by and take it down. Sick of doing it. Exhausted by lovely internet drama. So I'd like to eradicate the page or make it unusable, etc., if I can't just ask to take it down.

To be honest, I don't know how you'd manage to get it removed. I've read Encyclopedia Dramatica's article on TvTropes, and I'm pretty sure they had recorded at least one instance where a person had asked for a page about them to be removed, only to be met by tropers flipping them off and telling them to gently caress off.

Channel Awesome is just a magnet for nerd drama in general, I guess. I tried saying I liked one set of reviews on another site and twenty people called me an idiot because the person who did those said something that got someone else in trouble one time.

So considering that crossed with TV Tropes, yeah, there's probably no way you could hope to get it removed. Maybe try a different tack, and request to have it locked? Then you can satisfy tropers' inherent need for categorization while keeping people from actively trying to stalk you.

Thing is, if the page is suddenly deleted or stripped down, then the tropers freak out over the sudden change. Then they cry to the moderators, who will probably restore the page and/or ban the person responsible for the edit. And then defend their right to have the page, as if stalking a person online was socially acceptable.

Yeah, tropers are pretty adamant about not letting anything be taken off their site. I've seen a community that once tried to revamp their TV Tropes presence/remove it entirely, and for the effort most of the changes got reverted and a couple members got banned from the site for "vandalism". Amazingly, I got the page removed by bitching about how goddamn creepy it is on Twitter and retweeting scads of mentions condemning tropers.

Just...calling them on their poo poo in public is all it took. Tragic thing is it only worked because I have an audience. It's really awful for people who don't want poo poo smeared all over them on TV Tropes but don't have enough of a public voice to fight it off.

A small victory, but a victory nonetheless. Tropers are a weaselly lot. Worst that can happen now is that someone will bring it back and then lock it from editing, but that's still better than having weirdos post there every time I ever do anything that they can stalk out. Bleeeeegh.
