I just posted this in the schadenfreude thread but the end of the video belongs here. Jimmy Kimmel gets parents to tell their kids that their Halloween candy is all gone and most of them react as you'd expect but some of them rise above the challenge and act completely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOlpdd7y8MI Skip to 4:15 for the kids who value their parents' happiness more than candy.

So John Lewis, a UK retailer (not sure what a good comparison for Americans would be), have some pretty great adverts and just released their latest Christmas one. They are pretty and I think 2011 is perhaps my favourite ad of all time. The music always works and I think they are pretty innovative. They build their brand on good service and have a series of adverts based on a motto of Never Knowingly Undersold as well, I like the 2012 one so have stuck that on the end =) John Lewis Christmas Advert 2013 - The Bear & The Hare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqWig2WARb0 John Lewis Christmas Advert 2012 - The Journey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N8axp9nHNU John Lewis Christmas Advert 2011 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSLOnR1s74o John Lewis Christmas Advert 2010 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpV-xagkTDU Never Knowingly Undersold 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aluIeAj6CLA

I lived in an apartment with no windows for the past 5 years. My cats are two years old now, and have never known the wonders of the outside. Two months ago I bought my first house, and they love the windows. This is River, watching me come home on my lunch break.

There is a scene in The Road Home (which is itself pretty darn uplifting) where this traveling tinker mends a pottery bowl. It's amazing to watch, but I'm having no luck finding a clip of it.
