The video description said "complete destruction of the ship" and I thought to myself "That seems a bit dramatic, maybe English isn't their first language?" But nope that was pretty appropriate. I can't imagine hearing that in person.

As a stryker dude that stood up in a hatch on patrols, I measured explosions by how they felt against my sack. Small IEDs using RPGs and the like were dangle janglers and bigger stuff made out of arty shells and mines were nard knockers. Only experienced one scrotum smasher and that was while dismounted and a whole loving house blew up 50 meters from where I was posted up. Bad guys had 55 gallon drums full of mines, arty rounds, and misc explosives that they used to go out with a bang.

Slim Pickens posted:"Who wants to guarantee their grandkids a government pension? Ok, jump in the truck, we're gonna go watch some cool rear end poo poo" Most people exposed to radiation during our testing of the atom bomb didn't get compensation for exposure to radiation. In most cases the government knew they had received high doses but told them they did not. Many scientist and servicemen even petitioned the Atomic Energy Commission to get help, but were stonewalled. So no one's grandkids received any pensions.

Because in theory, if you take out the oiler, the other ships of the battlegroup will be immobile sitting ducks in short order. Something a surprising amount of surface officers forget about when prioritizing defence.

God drat I hope she gets a good lawyer that sues the ever loving gently caress out of everyone involved outside the military. It's a loving shame that military docs have no malpractice recourse while you're on active duty. The VA docs, however, don't share that same protection.

It's a loving shame that military docs have no malpractice recourse while you're on active duty. The VA docs, however, don't share that same protection. It's wild. I had the military docs consistently misdiagnose a lump on my head as a fungus or "scar tissue" for a solid year (including one botched surgery that didn't remove it) before I went to a real doctor who correctly identified it as a tumor. If it had been malignant, I would've been fuuuucked.
