Just reading the patch notes makes me really like the changes that came with U20. I'll probably get at least one of those heroic Otto's boxes as well. Being able to skip heroic levels and get in to the more 'fun' part of the game, without needing to get to 28 for an Iconic TR? Yeah, that sounds good to me! I'm the kind of sucker this game is made for, as I'm relatively time poor and don't like to spend ages levelling 1-20 (though, oddly, I'm fine with taking my time post-20).

ded posted:I'm not seeing any mention of build point changes by using epic reincarnation. Will it push you to 34-36 like the others? It sounds like no. Lammania is down so I can't check like I was planning to. But nothing I can find says anything other than Heroic or Iconic gives build points. Which while mildly annoying isn't really a huge deal, since if you're epic TRing doing an Iconic TR or two real quick isn't a huge deal.

Do the weapon enhancement bonuses from Half-Orc (racial thf), Monk (hm qs), Rogue (ta qs), and Fighter (kensei focus) stack?

The APs will be so tight on such a build. I'm not sure where I would fit kensei in at all (rog 13 has such nice things going for it). But the other three synergies are awesome (so far, at least until level 10).

I'm having a rough enough time with just henshin and acrobat, I don't know what a third and fourth will even do. I mean, ditching anything sneak attack related would be number one on the chopping block for more straightforward damage. While SA gets nuts, it's a bit of a problem maintaining if you don't have deception gear and/or blinding stuff.
|
# ? Nov 14, 2013 00:53 |

There's some really nice Improved Deception stuff in epic levels though, and from 17 on you can use Golden Guile which is super trivial to get. A great thing about SA is that it's also multiplied while you're Blitzing.

# ? Nov 14, 2013 01:57 |

Yeah, definitely massive differences with and without Golden Guile. I wish improved deception came on a few more things because neck spots get a bit tight after level 18. There are random things I want to take in other rogue and monk trees, and am having issues even planning out all the half-orc enhancements I'd want. I'd love to have kenshin but not without 5 more levels of AP points and a way to get improved evasion (and opportunist ideally too). I want some things in Ninja Spy too. What I'd love is another hot bar that worked off of shift+ numbers 1-9. There's just no way to hit any monk moves, finishers, cleave/great cleave, stunning blow, and four staff skills in 5 seconds

# ? Nov 14, 2013 02:31 |

You can change the key binds of any other bar to shift/ctr/alt + 1-0 in the options menu. There are also UELA breaking ways to hit all your attacks if you really want to get tight on those key strokes, but you probably don't want to do that.

When I spawn another hotbar to add more poo poo (as I fill up existing bars) it seems to like moving my keybinds to the new bar but keeping my skills on the existing one. Or the other way around... I've taken to just filling my screen with blank bars on new characters to avoid that bullshit. Then again I am awful with the DDO UI so YMMV.

When you spawn a new bar, it switches your active bar to that. You need to hit control+1 (by default I think) to switch back to the main hotkey bar. That's what the numbers are for when you unlock the bars. Same thing for offscreen bars, like I hit shift+8 (mines rebound) to get to my Blitz building bar so that I have all the keys nicely lined up for that boring part.

I think I have something pretty solid and really aggressive. The dip into Cleric powers Supreme Cleave against trash and supplements scroll/potion healing. I tried to focus on Feats and Enhancements that would support each other. I like how it looks with the three cleaves, massive power attack, and all the glancing blow stuff. The saves are slim, but maybe Improved Evasion and Slippery Mind help make up for that? Thoughts?code:

I assume you're taking Extra Turning because Diving Healing uses your Turn Undead attempts? If that's the case, fine, but you might want to look at doing a feat swap post-20 once you can twist in Endless Turning as part of your epic destiny. Other than that, I don't see any real major flaws with it, apart from maybe going with a True Neutral alignment instead of chaotic neutral. You then wouldn't get a negative level penalty if you use a lawful weapon for whatever reason, and you won't take any extra alignment damage.

Extra Turning is for Divine Healing and I thought Barbarians had to be Chaotic, but it's just that they can't be Lawful (or just not with Monk?). I think I'm going to move some stuff around to get Wand Mastery, but other than that I really like how this looks and I want to play it. Thanks for the response.

Barbarians can't be lawful, and monks must be. So yeah, they are mutually exclusive. Bards also must be non-lawful, and paladins of course must be lawful good, so you can't do any bard/barbarian mutliclassed with monk/paladin.

An bard re-build at lvl 25code:
|
# ? Nov 14, 2013 22:38 |

Looks somewhat similar to what I was thinking of for a Bard life, though I don't think going so CHA/Enchantment focus is really worth it. You're probably best off focusing on Fascinate and Irresistible Dance for CC over other things, I don't think your DC will be high enough to land 95% of the time in EH, let alone do anything in EE really. Also don't think Force of Personality is worth it on a class that gets Freedom in particular. And Toughness is pretty lackluster these days. With some reshuffling you could probably grab some extra Two-Handed Fighting line for more DPS that way, or Spell Penetration for Dance I guess. Or Extend/Quicken for lazier buffing and safer healing.
|
# ? Nov 14, 2013 22:45 |
|
That's a staff build? With all level ups into strength (or cha?). I would take two handed fighting (or cleave/etc) at level 1 and push toughness until way later, if at all. Get empower heal imo instead of force of personality (unless going cha, and even then this is an iffy feat for me personally) or toughness. Is GSF: enchantment needed for any prereq? I would drop both spell focus enchantments because the class is not a pure bard so DCs already suffer, bards are already lower than wizards in enchanting (sadly) and those two feats would be better spent on improved two handed fighting and greater two handed fighting + focus on fascination and not spell DCs. I'd probably drop toughness unless going for epic toughness (or push this until lvl 18+), force of personality, both spell focuses, add the other two two handed fighting feats, add empower healing, maybe add extend. Right now it looks like you are half focused on spell DCs (which will be poor after level 10-12) and half on melee, and missing bits for either part to have a good time of it. The rest looks good imo This was actually what I looked at doing a week ago when I planned a random staff TR build and decided it didn't have enough staff specific aspects, I could probably live without heals until 20, and I didn't need a bard life on that character ever. All of what DemonMage said. My multiclass'd bard's DCs blew after gianthold or thereabouts and I hardly landed any holds. I think you'd need heighten as well for a DC/enchantment bard. edit: OR else do 18/2 bard and focus on spells/casting DCs (with spell focuses, spell penetration and heighten). Maybe they will add an Eldritch bard type enhancement which will make multiclass enchanters workable ;D edit2: And power attack. If going for str + staff + two handed fighting, take power attack, at level 1 maybe, or sub level 6 anyway. So handy. Noricae fucked around with this message at 23:00 on Nov 14, 2013 |

The enchant focus is for the disoballs & irresistible to make up for 4 less caster levels since playing songs for cc takes too loving long and is not really buffed by warchanter. Empower healing is already in the build. Levels things are taken do not matter much since this is a rebuild (LR) of a lvl 25 character. Yes it is for staff, note the acrobat enhancements. Force was also sort of an extra feat. So I really have 3 feats I could move around if needed (force, and the 2 focus). Upgrade to greater 2hf and extend I guess if the balls & dance won't work worth a poo poo.

If fascinate is too long to CC with, then stuff is dying fast enough that you don't need to bother CCing in the first place. I'd do something like the following, and even consider dropping dex down some for more Open Lock and/or Hide/Move Silent, maybe even con. As is you'll have solid trapping abilities, but your Open Lock won't hold up in epic levels. I guess you could raise Open Lock instead of Spot too. [Edit] Oops I did it as 28 point, so that frees up 4 points to put into intelligence letting you max open lock too. quote:Character Plan by DDO Character Planner Version 04.19.03

Generally it's pretty much worthless. Depends on what classes/race you are as to what effects are worth caring about that are Will based, and if you're primarily solo or group, and then finally what feat you're giving up.

What Goes Up has an end boss that casts flesh to stone, was holding a Sireth and it still tagged me. The other red named casters there throw symbol of stunning a bit too and then there's those Howlers in the prison, I think the howler stun is will based. There's also the bards in GH with sonic blasts/sleeps and more sleep in VoN4 and disco balls in a lot of quests, Protection From Evil seems broken again so it'll help with Command too until it gets fixed. So some reason to go for decent will saves but FoM probably works on a lot of these and when it doesn't you have the Harper Pin and Unstoppable from LD that work now to break CC. So depends on what you want but it's not worthless. Woden fucked around with this message at 09:28 on Nov 15, 2013 |

Flesh to Stone and Symbol of Stunning are both Fort saves though. And strange on Protection, I haven't had any issues with it since the patch (unless it was a hotfix problem). Glad to know the Harper Pin is fixed, I keep forgetting to use mine so I haven't had a chance to test it yet. But yeah Freedom not stopping Disco Balls anymore really sucks. It's not nearly as good of an effect as it used to be.

Yeah I got FtS wrong, had 70+ fort so was sure it had to be a will save but it's fort. Stunning is will though unless the wiki is wrong. There's also the will based traps in Partycrashers and I *think* some of the spellwards might be will based too but haven't had a chance to really check it out. Most groups don't want you cycling through a combat log filled with crap after you die to look something up, but there's something off with them. I'd see die roll that were -20 or so reflex but weren't the same value as fort or will either. Prot From Evil was bugging in a quest or two I ran after U20(VoN3? and something else), might've been fixed already with the hotfix but not sure. Edit: also the Harpers Pin is a little finicky, there's some things that might not count as CC for it but can't remember exactly. Works for stuns and dancing though which are probably the two biggest. Woden fucked around with this message at 10:10 on Nov 15, 2013 |

Sounds to me like Force of Personality would still be worth it. I am bad/lazy with my buffs, and if they get stripped or run out, it's nice to have a decent save to fall back on regardless. Also, A Study in Sable...holy gently caress. The end fight is just brutal. You really do need to save as many guests as possible. You only get one shot as showing an item to a guest, and if you don't have their particular counter, or they aren't in thrall enough, nothing happens and you lost your chance to save them. The randomness doesn't really help either, you may not have access to the item that saves them at the time they're under someone's thrall.

# ? Nov 15, 2013 11:47 |

It's always possible to save the correct person (barring a bug). The end fight has a very important trick: destroy the pillar(s) and get him in the sunlight.
|
# ? Nov 15, 2013 12:17 |
|
The end fight is also stupidly easy if you cheese it. Have everyone stay above the second drop-down and have one guy lure everyone into that area and wreck them.Especially if yuo can get the enemies to aggro on the people above, the guy acting as bait can survive too since the boss will just rubberband occasionally between him and the person with aggro.

# ? Nov 15, 2013 21:49 |

Yeah, I did destroy the pillars (I was duoing with Chuchunezzby) but he just seemed to not care that he was in sunlight, apart from the text floating above his head. He apparently didn't like it, but he could tan ok because he still kept regenerating his health and not taking damage or anything in it.

Yeah I did the tomes since I was also half-rear end building it for our bard lives too. Given that I accidently did it as a 28 point build and the only feat that requires a high stat is Overwhelming Critical, the tomes are pretty meaningless other than wanting to drop some more points into int. Up until 15 the skill points would be the same since you've got a +2 int tome. And you'll have more to play around with if you go 12 or 14 int. But you could always ditch Spot for Concentration if you want, your heals will be Quickened anyways (and/or SLAs like Cocoon), and most everything else will be cast out of battle, so you don't really need Concentration just to recast buffs. Though it might not hurt to Quicken Displacement at least I suppose, since you'll redo that in combat sometimes. Perform, UMD, Search, Disable are your vital skills. Open Lock is extra loot primarily, Spot is good for quests you don't know well or have random traps and for not wandering into Assassins. Concentration is good for Scroll Healing and doing Displacement/Irresistible Dance in combat without having to blow 10 more SP.
